Since depositing has been a hot topic since the NetTeller shutdown (I feel for people with money stuck in there) I just wanted to let everyone know of a good option that I just tested myself. It has been mentioned once before, but I fear it was overlooked and it's a cheaper option than Epassporte and is faster if you don't have Epassporte set up yet.
GiftCards.com has what is called a Virtual Gift Card. It's a Visa card without the actual physical card. You get a regular Visa number (with the 3 digit CID/CCV #), expiration date and your name on the card. The verification process takes a couple of steps but for most people it should be quick. With in a couple of hours max. Likely a lot less time.
I purchased a $250 card. The fee for any amount is only $2.00. The cards are available from $25-$500. Once I had the account info, I entered in the PS cashiers screen for Visa and it was approved with no problem.
I like this option because of the following reasons:
1) I paid for the Virtual Gift card with my credit card, so it's secure and my purchase it backed up by my credit card company.
2) The Virtual Gift Card deposit is approved and the funds deposited right away and then the card is done. It's not linked to any account where money can be accidentally or fraudulently deducted from a debiting a bank account or charging a credit card. Again, I paid with my credit card, so I am not responsible for fraudulent purchases if something crazy were to happen and since they are both credit cards, all purchases and done. Nothing is pending.
3) GiftCards.com is reputable and I now know the Virtual Gift Card works.
Just thought I'd share this all with you. Sorry if any was repetitive, but it seems like a lot of people are still wondering how to easily deposit without spending time. For me a $2 fee is nothing for the speed, convenience and security it provides. If anyone has any questions on the process I'd be happy to explain it in more detail. -
Can you reload the gift card, or would you have to buy another card? I have read on here that if you enter diff. visa numbers it will decline the deposit.
-
SINCE WHEN did ps accept visa cards at all?
-
The cards are not reloadable. You would have to buy another card. Interesting that it will decline the deposit. I mean, people have more than 1 credit card.
-
The verification process takes a couple of steps but for most people it should be quick. With in a couple of hours max. Likely a lot less time.
Please describe what the above entails. -
Sure.
Basically what happens is you fill out all the information on who is buying the card and who you are sending the card too. In this case it's all the same info since you're sending it to yourself. So you just fill it all out with the same exacts names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses.
You then get an email confirming your order and also get an email telling you to claim your card. You get all the emails since your both the sender and recipiant.
One you claim the gift (you get a little fruity looking e-greeting with animation) you create an account with some basic info and that is where you can always login to get the account number and check the balance.
They send you an email with a link to click to activate the account with in 2 minutes (just like if you were confirming your account creation on the P5 forum for the first time).
Once in the account, they process the card fully. It took me about 5-10 minutes to receive it at that point.
The first one you do always takes longer because you have to create the login account and click the link to verify it in your email. After that is done, you don't need to do those again.
In the account it shows a picture of a Visa card, with your account number, experation date and CID/CCV code, along with your full name. Then you just enter it like you would any other credit card.
I hope I was clear enough in explaining this. If not, let me know and I can clarify things. -
I LOVE Giftcards.com Virtual Gift Cards!! Here's how it worked for me. I hope this is helpful.
I bought 2 of them as a test to see how they worked. First I bought one for $52 ($50 + $2 fee) with my debit card. It took me about 5mins to get my information into the account. It took 4-6 hours for me to get the verification email, go back to their site, open an account and get my GC #s (it shows you a picture of a credit card with the regular 16 digits on it and the CVVS # on the front instead of the back. This can be printed out on your printer, just in case). I then went to poker stars and deposited the money. It was instantly accepted. The next day I bought a second card for $102 ($100 + $2 fee, nice that no matter what size of purchase it's only $2, huh?) on that same debit card. It took 4 hours to to get my verification email. I then put $50 on pokerstars (iinstantly went through) and then the rest ($50) onto FullTilt. FullTilt took about a day to process, but it went through and now I can enjoy my micro limit poker games...joy :-)
FYI - after you withdraw ALL of the $ that is on your Virtual Gift Card. You HAVE to purchase a new one.
Overall it was VERY VERY easy and as long as you are patient (something we're supposed to have as poker players) and wait the 4 or so hours, you will be able to at least be able to play on FullTilt and Pokerstars.
Gl all and God bless:) -
im testing it now...4-6 hours though? i think running out to walgreens and doing it that way will be much quicker...i will try both.

This seems like a good way to depo. But I read on the Poker stars site if you depo useing a CC. you have to send them a copy of the card front and back, also a photo ID and a bill or passport before you can make a withdraw. Would this apply before you withdraw because you used a gift card, or no.
-
ive deposited with CC before (back when my CC company would let me) and withdrawn soon after...i have never had to send in anything...
-
they cant send back to the card..it would have to be a check
-
it works btw...just completed my deposit
-
FYI, one person PM'ed me and said it got declined. I don't understand how. Anyone else have it declined?
