This was from yesterday but explains a lot.
One thing that stood out was the 15 month blackout
was the one thing that stayed in every bill revision.
Totally ridiculous that the PPA, who's suppose to be
working for it's members continues to think the 15
month blackout is just something we have to accept.
That's the only part of this bill and most important to
us players that they should be against the most and
no accept or side with Reid on. -
To be honest, a blackout period is likely. The casino lobby is strong, and Harrah's, etc want time to break into the market. Still, 15 months seems extreme, can't see why 6 months wouldn't accomplish the same objectives.

Or one month. Get some dope programmers and get it done

It sounds like something is going to happen. But the PPA doesn't make a strong case for getting people to support this bill. Like Weeen posted, what research have they done to show we are better off with this bill? All he said in the interview is that states could start passing laws on their own. I'd rather take my chances with than than know I won't have stars and FTP for 15 months, and I live in KY which is a anti poker state.

EDIT: makes me kinda feel like casinos just don't have a game plan for getting this done quickly and they just want more time for themselves... it seems it's all about them in this bill, doubt they're really gonna care how thats gonna affect a group of a million+ -
Edited By: gamma21 Dec 11th, 2010 at 04:24 AMThe PPA is failing us big time here. I fail to see how a bill that allows states to opt out, which would mean a lot more Washington states would be a good thing. It's pretty sad that the PPA is willing to support any legislation even if it's a steaming pile of crap.Originally Posted by Passiveplay

Very informative, but it still makes me sick. And I'm not losing my primary source of income. This whole thing has turned into a nightmare so quickly.

Blackout probably more to "clean the slate" than anything else. Make everyone clear their money out and then have everyone on somewhat equal footing to start. Good part about this is that it will require sites to make offers to get people back.
I guarantee that somewhere these casinos have the platforms ready to go. The casino people are not stupid. Maybe not fully ready but at least a realistic start. There was always a possibility that legalization could come very quickly and they certainly would have had some plans set up.
