Not trying to be result oriented. This guy is pretty new to the table (was sitting there for 30 minutes before he came along) so I figured him to be a little loose. Do you see any problems with the play that I made there? I tried to keep him in the pot long enough and encourage him to make an action against me.
Also, I thought he was on a flush draw at first but looking back, his bet didn't really scream out "flush draw". Tell me what you think. :o -
you obviously dont have the nuts but you definitely arent folding at any point. his raise on the flop is probably just to find out how big your "ace" is. I think every bet was correct based on the size of the pot and where you made your tight. If he had you beat on the end i doubt he would just push, more likely to make a more value sized raise like to $10, so you know you've got him. Nice hand all around.

So, basically his reraise was to find out how strong my "ace" was. If I had re-reraise him, would that have potentially scare him off or no?
Suppose the turn never gave me the boat and the action was still similar, would a call on the river still be appropriate with (originally) bottom two pairs? -
Also, I realized that my betting pattern there almost seemed like a flush draw as well.
Another question I have is that, is it okay for me to play out of position with 79s without putting in a bigger bet to see where my opponents were (since I was only at the table for about 30-45 minutes at that time so I didn't have all the information atm) or was a check preflop acceptable?
