    "A few years after the crisis, the Mohawks of Kahnawake established the Kahnawake Gaming Commission and started issuing "licences" to gambling operators who host their Internet gaming websites on their reserve. Both the Canadian and Quebec governments dispute the legality of this operation, but have not risked taking further action. The websites hosted by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission are the only gambling sites that have operated in North America without legal action being taken against them."

    I did a paper on the Oka crisis, and just membered this today.

    The Kahnawake gaming commision isn't supported by the canadian or Quebec government and we trusted it?

    Full Tilt is licensed by the Kahnawake gaming commission, and there are several pros own pieces of it and endorse it...

    the commission doesn't really do <span>anything</span> from what i gather.

    it's more or less an organization that doesn't have any reputation other than online gambling. they are a front for sites to pay them to endorse their site and make it look legit more or less. like, pstars or FTP or abs pays this commission a fee, the company then lets them use their logos.

    i don't really think they are in any way really directly involved in this, other than the fact that they sublease IP addresses to poker sites and allow sites to say 'we are verified by this gaming commission."

    of course i could be 100% wrong.

    what are they at risk for? i live in quebec and this has never been an issue i've ever heard mentioned in the otherwise highly-charged political atmosphere here.

    never mind the fact that this operation has allowed the top poker players to cash out literally millions of dollars.

    Has anyone actually tired to run an online gaming site on an indian reservation here in the U.S.?

    Also, why Costa Rica? Why do all the gaming sites have offices there?

    oh and just in case anyone didn't do their research, kahnawake is the licenscor for pokerstars.com as well, so if anyone wants to start questioning the integrity of kahnawake b/c of their affiliation to absolute well stars A++ service and highest-echelon cashouts is far more proof positive.

    lol, we are aware of that...thats not what im trying to say...

    ppl just dont understand that kahnawake is not some kind of organization in a big city that is savvy in these secuirty matters or even gives a shit for that matter.

    eg.
    I remember making a post about losing power to one of my cabins....I was in 1st place w/ like 30 to go and ended out blinding to 12th.... I was talking about how fucked over i was...

    ppl started posting: you shoulda gone to starbucks, also wendys has free wireless, etc.

    what they didnt get is that i am in the middle of fucking nowhere & the closest city was a 1 1/2hr drive.

    It is different up here & ppl dont realize that these servers are just sitting on what would look like vacant cottage property & are operated by a native reserve.
