every tournament i play there is one very close hand that if i win im set with chips for awhile but i always seem to lose this hand its ALWAYS a coin flip and i always lose it....does anyone else seem to have this problem

thats a tourney. to get far in tourneys you need to win those races. thats where the luck somes in

I like what Cloutier said in his book.....to win a tournament you have to win with AK, and beat AK. He is pretty much talking about your coin flips. Trust me though, over time you are winning half of them and just remembering the ones you lost, human nature. Hopefully you can build a big enough stack that you can afford to lose these sometimes and still win tourney. Good Luck.

In my biggest online win, I won 2 key races. When I was slightly below average, I raised pretty big in EP with 9 9 and the small blind (ranked player, sirio11) pushed all in. I thought forever and called, after putting him on AK. Sure enough he had AK and I won the race. Then at the final table, there was a mid pos raise and a call, and I pushed from the small blind with AK. First raiser folds and the caller calls with 5 5. I hit an ace on the river to win. Those were BY FAR the two biggest hands in that tournament for me, and both brought me to well above average, where I'd have been on the rail if I lost.
Just interesting, to go along with that post. -
