Not much of a read on the villain - after 16 hands he had been active (38/25) and after looking at these hands I regard him as a loose/passive type of player who is capable of making small bluffs post flop, but generally is going to be playing honest. He was limp calling 3bets and opening for 3x so we can assume he isn't great.
I regard his min 3bet pre as a 'please don't fold' type of 3bet, and generally I think this type of player has quite a narrow range here. I called with the intention of flopping a monster and getting away from it if I didn't hit big. I didn't follow this plan! Folding pre seems silly as we are getting such great odds. Looking back, I should have stuck with my plan and just folded - but I would still like to know if anyone else is playing this differently...

Just dump the KJ off in that position. If you were in later position I definitely have no problem with a raise but from early position you're going to be getting yourself into tough spots more often than not. As played i'm pretty content folding to his flop bet. You said the play doesn't get out of line too much so what are you beating here? JJ,QQ. You say you regard him as pretty honest. You're probably dominated here with only 1200 invested. KJ really doesn't seem good in this spot.

Well for one, you shoulda sticked to your plan and folded pre. Kj is not a monster. Your 9k stack is worth about (14.24BBs)

Get out of that eww, fold. Hes crushing you! Dump it and look for another spot. it's just to iffy there with K,j. If I was in a later pos maybe I play. thats normally a 99% fold. -
Raise pre is fine in a 6max game.

Flatting is meh. Great implied odds, so a flat is ok, but you have to fold if you don't flop 2pr+ -
meh I dont mind shoving here personally

That tiny 3bet definitely smells strength even though it's from the button. In a 6max game, I'm never folding KJo preflop if it's folded to me (Mercurial is effectively in the HJ here).
As for post-flop, he bets 2000 into ~3300, which seems like a weird bet. If I was you, I would've bet something like 900-1300 as a blocker bet to see if you can peel a good turn card or force him to raise for more information. Kinda smells like TT+, AKo, AQs+, and in this case you would be beating a decent amount of his range.
