he was a tight player, i felt i had to re raise pre to hopefully win the pot pre or get it heads up
when he re raised me to 720 i cringed inside...yeah it is a 11$buy so mayb he is 4betting wit QQ here but i highly doubt it....
i dont think i need to 'bet the flop to see where im at' because i think i already know where im at...which is drawing to 2outs..decided to take a free turn card..didnt hit a K...i just dont see how he has anything but AA here.
so did i play this poorly? or what? like fuck

push pre
/thread -
um, i dont think that makes much sense really...u clearly did not pay attention to how he bet his hand preflop. the way he played his hand preflop screams AA to me..so why would i want to shove pre?? i already re raised him once. he came over the top again i dont see how or why i should be 5 betting preflop all in in this spot?
-
ok first off its first level of the tournament...exactly how good of a read can you have on a player at this point?
secondly youre not trying to win a 90 chip pot preflop, youre trying to build a big pot with a vv strong hand, so get that notion out of your head.
damage is 100% right when he 4bets to 720 now its a sizeable pot, be more than happy to take it down. If you got coolered u got coolered but you cant find ways to let KK go here, you just need to get it in. If its someone whos looking to gambol (which is like half the field beginning this tourney), youre absolutely crushing his range which could be as wide as 1010+, aq+.
ship it in, if youre beat sign up for the next gtd tourney that starts within an hour. -
kinda does look like he had AA or JJ at the least and play it horribly pre, but idk, doubt hed get it in pre with AQ there.
good laydown, but like damage said, esp in a 10$, i go broke regardless -
I think his range is wider than AA, especially if this is the rebuy hour. I'm thinking JJ+, then again I'm terrible, so my advice might not mean much. If you're convinced he has AA though, why call drawing to two outs? This is either a shove preflop or a fold to his 4bet.
-
I would probably fold the flop personally. IMO I don't think he is going to repop you 500 more preflop with anything less than JJ. Based on the action preflop, I don't think you're ahead by any means, atleast after the flop for sure. Whether it be JJ QQ or AA. I think it's a fold on the flop and look for a better spot.
-
If your calling his re re raise preflop, then I would be pushing any flop. Why commit chips if your going to fold to that kind of board. I would have been all in pre no matter how it looked to me. But yes, iv'e been in this situation and known for sure he has AA preflop, but still get it all in pre.
-
OK U GUYS R MISSING THE POINT. FORGET I HAVE KK. Does the way he played his hand not SCREAM AA to you? so WHY would i want to 5bet all in pre when i think thers a 90% chance he has AA here. this guy has been very inactive since the beggining of the tournament. most players/donks are very loose in the early stages playing a a wide range of hands and showing down garbage. so yeah i realize i have KK and yes i KNOW it is a very strong hand. but under these specific circumstances i feel the player has to have AA in this spot more than anyother hand. so i dont see how this is a profitable shove preflop whatsoever
edit: this was not a rebuy its the 11 20K and this player had not entered a pot before this hand
so im just trying to improve here because i honestly think this is a tough spot...
so my question is should i be happy that i am still in the tournament with a short stack, but in a spot where most players would have busted out of the tournament?
i dont know, im by no means a weak/tite player. def not afraid and im by far on the aggressive side. however yes, i LOVE getting my chips in preflop wit KK...but i just dont see how he doesnt have AA here under these circumstances.........uhggggggggg dhisjnh0os -
Don't post a hand if you aren't going to listen. You have a read on him yet it's still 10/20 the first level of the tournament. Shove pf.
-
You asked a question and people took the time to answer and you just want to argue? You played it perfect, gawd you are awesome!!! That was one of the most incredible laydowns I've ever seen. Wow! I can't wait to tell everyone about this great laydown at my home game!!!!
-
um yeah..i DO have a read on the player. he had not played a hand. and the manner in which he played his 1st hand screams AA...mayb im the only person in the world that thinks he has AA here...i guess you guys think it makes more sense the way he played his hand that he has AK AQ QQ JJ but i seriously think he can hold none of these hands by his actions preflop.
i jus really hate this spot as a whole -
LOL..you think im bragging that i can fold KK...yeah...um not at all...im not trying to argue. but if i feel ppl are giving advice that doesnt make much sense then im going to question it...
i OBV want to get my money in preflop wit KK almost any chance i can get...but i think some of the replies have completely disregarded the way the other player has played his hand...lol so if u think he has AA here? then why still go all in just cuz u have KK? thats kinda what im gettin at.. -
i think my turn call makes no sense. i think the best play is to fold on the turn....????
-
Mufasa is right on here. Push preflop. How tight can he be in the 10/20 stage? With that said you have to fold the river about 40% of the time. Scary board so he may be bluffing. Trust your read fold PF if you are so sure he has AA.
-
The way it's played i think it is QQ, you should have pushed pre and been coolered. if he has AA why does he check the QJ board? why does he push when the jacks pair ? since u possibly could have a jack....when u called the turn bet, he must be putting u on KK or AQ or AJ (i think) so the queens full push will probably get called. why didnt u push pre you vagina? he could have done this with AK, AQ, 10's+ pre, only one hand beats u, puuuuuuuuuush...then get coolered, are you trying to win this fucking tournament or what? u gotta push kings pre.
-
Still didn't explain if you are 100% he has AA you put more money in the pot preflop
-
Thats a sick read after playing with him for under 15 mins!
Push pre.
As played:
a) Shove flop
b) Shove over turn bet
c) Call river -
get it in pre all day, if he has AA, ul gg
-
all in pre... if anyone says otherwise they are stupid
regardless of the amount of times your KK loses to Ax or runs into AA it is always +EV in tourny to get it in pre in the first level........ i'd like to see math to prove me otherwise... -
SHOVE PRE
is this seriously doubted ?!?!? -
ok dude here you go, if he has AA here and your sooooooooooo sure then FOLD pre why waste chips if your sooooooooooooo sure?
second- if he had AA here you think hes checking flop to you with two hearts out there being as tight as he is let alone a str draw aswell?
third- no are weak you got played!if you always think they have it you will never win period. ship it in pre or fold KK everytime some doesnt play the first 10 hands of a tourney because they have to have AA to raise here, i mean how can they not have AA here they have folded 10 hands in a row
why am i here? -
I normally shove pre in this spot with no information on opponent.
Against some opponents this is honestly a fold pre (against me at this level it definitely is, I'm never 4betting anything other than Aces if I'm him)
As played you need to fold the turn. The 4bet pre check flop just screams QQ or JJ which were the only 2 hands that you likely beat preflop anyway (possibly AK). -
lol at this line:
i felt i had to re raise pre to hopefully win the pot pre
why would you want to take this down pre flop?
