i went along with this guy for as long as i could but eventually had to stop because i obviously wasnt going to ship him $229 on emoneygram using my credit card. i stopped responding to his IMs when i said brb and he tried using scare tactics by saying my full name, im assuming hes trying to instill fear in me that he knows who i really am and that he can hack me. great job buddy, you looked at my p5 profile.

the point is, i now have a name an email address associated with him, i just dont know if either of them are real or what we can do with them. our community is pretty wide ranging, we should really be able to find someone who can use this info to hunt this guy down.

We should find out if you write the name on a moneygram if that person has to pick it up. If so I know Western Union, not sure about moneygram has a fraud protection service. If that person does have to pick up the money order or w/e we could send him money fly to where were sending it to and meet up with him. Boom :)

What makes them so easy to hack? I'm sure the people's Skype passwords aren't any stronger. Wouldn't you have to download something for a key logger to work ? I know icudonk said he's pretty positive he didn't. I doubt rat did either ? Besides hacking people's aim's is dumb anyways. I don't think any players ever ask for credit card info. Maybe transfers for a paypal but not just a credit card. So you'd have to be an idiot to get scammed this way.

Yea so unfortunately I was one of the people to fall for this when normally I'm way more cautious of any online transactions especially involving moneygram or anything like that. Like everyone has posted, the same thing happened to me, a person who I thought was lab asked me if I could do a money order to this woman for a Phone that he bought on craigslist for the amount of $245. Saying the reason he couldn't do it was because moneygram doesn't accept Amex (stupid of me to think Lab would only have Amex). In return he would give me an additional $100 when the banks opened on Monday and he could money wire it.

Having transferred TLR money back forth countless times (going from stars to tilt and back again) I didn't really think much of it and it seemed like he was in a bind. While putting together the money order the person on Labs s/n was talking poker, how they were excited about the WCOOPS and UBOCS, obv to make me more sure that it was him. To make matters worse again idk where my head was this night, I give this kid my bank account number to transfer me funds back. 10 mins later once i tell him it was approved he said brb and thats when 10 mins to late i check Facebook and see TLR status. Instantly call moneygram, woman said the funds were withdrawn immediately and since moneygram is as good as cash and they act as a middle man there is no way of me getting my money back. They filed a claim but the woman was honest with me and said that in situations like this people rarely get there money back. On top of that I had to cancel my BOA account reopen a new one when I'm moving from Boston to NYC in 6 days now without my ATM card and also that account has my work Direct Deposit linked to it, which is going to prob cause mass chaos with my paychecks over the next month.

Figured I'd share my story although it makes me look like a complete moron, I hope no one that reads this every trusts moneygram especially when sending it to another country. I hope we somehow find out who this scum bag is who is taking advantage of the tight knit poker community and introduce him to a Joe Pesci from Casino type beating.

fuck man sorry to hear that.... you have to show id when getting money how could someone be so dumb unless u have fake id to go with it but i would imagine that his identity is going to be uncovered now even if used a friend to get the money.. im sure the friend will give him up prob someone innocent in the matter too..

that sounds like a name that a poker site would have the money sent to for a deposit but u said it was US so prob worth looking into further.

I think its so funny this guy is threating to beat peoples ass cause they wont get scammed by him. REALLY wish i knew who he was or we had some way of getting in touch with him irl.
