  1. I'm new to the PC world and need some help...

I just bought a Toshiba L505-6946 for online play and it really is slow...I'm going to return it and would like some recomendations of what laptops perform best with the online poker rooms...

I asked about 32 vs. 64 bit...and was told 32 was o.k. for online...does this make a diffrence for online play?

    Thanks
  2. 32 bit and 64 bit refers to an operating system's (windows, mac) capacity for complex program structuring. It allows for more advanced use of a program within an OS with enhanced capabilities. A 64-Bit OS will not benefit you unless the programs you are running support that sort of structuring capabilities. As of right now, you can find a good computer that will perform fast if you are using to mostly play online, surf the web, and download music. The two most important things that you want to be looking for in a computer is a one with a fast processor (2.0 GHz or better) and with a good amount of ram (2GB+). With the ram, you can afford to go with only 2GB and if you need more, which you most definitely will if you use windows, you can always upgrade it for much much cheaper than what the store will charge. PM me for details if you get to that road. One other side note, if you plan on ever using an external monitor with your laptop, you will need a good graphics card with about 256mb of video ram. That should be good for starters. Good luck.

  3. Thanks GrayFox,

My brother bought a Toshiba Special Edition A305-6858 last winter that ran great with a 2.0ghz processor...big diffrence in performance vs. the S6946

  4. I bought a refurbished dell studio via their website, delivered for $589. My only regret is not buying an extra 2g of RAM, not a big deal though, I can add it in anytime, in fact, I'm going to do that right now.

  5. I have a Toshiba Tecra A-9 S9020V with an extra 2g of RAM and its seriously flawless. Wikked fast, can play any computer game and have 2 pokersites open at the same time. +i have pushed it to the floor a few times (KO'd Deep) and it is still good as new. Granted it is a little on the expensive side and i am no computer tech, but fwiw i love the thing.
  6. Sell the PC, buy a MacBook. You'll never look back.

  11. Macbook Pro ftmfw. You pay for what you get, it will definitely cost you a bit more than a comparable PC. But once you've used one, you really will never go back.

  14. 32bit is fine for online poker. Poker isn't exactly the most strenuous program to run... I would customize the laptop for whatever else you would may want to use it for (ie. photoshop, games, etc). But you can't go wrong with a good processor and a lot of ram like someone else said.

  16. Yeah I have to agree with these guys btw, getting a Macbook Pro is the easily the best decision you will make. Super smooth (compared to windows) and tons of features that make it great for multi tabling like expose and others. Now that they have dropped the price to slightly below the "super-ridiculously expensive" level, it is worth saving for a little longer to get a better product. Windows will do the trick though (I guess :/).
