what does this mean in terms of actually becoming law and such

basically, in comittee they hold hearings, and deliberate about the bill. then they make a report and give it to everyone...then it goes back to the floor, where they talk about the bill again. then they vote, if it passes it goes to the senate.

I like this part from 2003, These unregulated gambling sites are a direct pipeline of dollars out of the United States into virtually unknown hands. This factor makes the financial services industry vulnerable to criminal and terrorist activity and Americans citizens vulnerable to identity theft and other personal scams, Rep. Leach said. Internet gambling serves no legitimate purpose in our society and is a danger to family and society at large. It should be ended."
Interpretation: We haven't figured out a way to tax the shit out of the online gaming companies and potentially the American tax payers. so we'll just make this illegal. We don't like foreign competition especially if it doesn't grease our pockets, so we'll just close off our economies. Good game free markets and self-regulation. -
What's the biggest pos move is, they will make it legal to bet horses online. What is the dfference? It's all gambling. I do know that TVG had lost a lot of money in the past, they televise horse racing and take bets. They were owned by TV Guide, I guess if law passes that might spike up their stock price, if it still owns TVG. The horse industry is a big winner if this passes.

It passed Wednesday by a voice vote with less than 10 minutes of discussion.
If 25% of players out here called their Congress people, there is no way this would pass.
Too many are scared to voice their opinion out of some sort of fear of being tagged as a gambler.
