I call min raise from BB, 1 player to act. Min reraise, call, and i call with no one to act behind me. Pot 450.
Flop nut straight draw. Approx: 2-1 300 bet, 300 call, pot 1050. Pot odds: 3.5-1
I call. (Is this a bad call?)
Turn, board pairs, no longer nut draw, but strong. If draw is live, Approx 17%.
Bet 620 (all in) [ How much does the fact it's an all in matter?] 620 call. Pot:approx 2300. 3.7-1 pot odds.
The other big stack is in the pot with me. keep in mind this has been a fairly loose table, and odd min raises and calls have been going on all along. Am i wrong to play on implied odds against the one player at the table that can double me up?
I call.
Check on river. Lose. 1070 of my 5300 stack. -
There's a couple things I would suggest for playing a hand like this.
1) Min-raises in these $4.40 tourneys usually indicate big hands. So I don't like calling the min-raise and I really don't like calling the min re-raise with 7-8 off.
2) Other than flopping the straight, that's about the best flop you could get, why the hell are you checking it?! You really need to bet that flop. Someone with A-K might follow you, but if the table is loose like you say, a good bet here may chase out the garbage. You're playing way too passively here.
3) I don't mind the call on the flop because you're getting close to the compensation you need, but you're going to have to hit, because you have to get paid off here.
4) You miss on the turn and check. One guy goes all-in and gets called. You're not getting the odds to draw at your 8-outer, so fold.
Just my 2 cents.
The most important thing is that you should have bet the flop. -
When you calculate your odds on the flop you calculate the pot odds you are getting on the flop action but you caluculate your outs for bot the turn and the river. You have to assume that with 2 other people in the pot you are going to have to commit more money on the turn ot see the river. Regardless, I do think your implied may justify calling here.

Well, in the 4.40 games, I really don't like calling with tricky hands. I think your problem is, if you don't hit, players won't fold big hands away, and you could be in trouble.
So, you have a limper and the dealer min raises. This is definitely callable, but I like the fold here. Rarely is the 78off going to give you a great hand, and lots of times it can get you in trouble, but you called.
Now your min reraised, this has to scare you, but now you have incredible pot odds and your last to act, so you throw it in. I don't mind the calling the reraise (you obligated yourself) but you could have folded to the dealer raise here going 3 handed.
Now, you got a good flop. You HAVE to bet it out. You likely won't get any folds, but you have to figure out where your at. Someone will bet, and you need to figure out if they have something or not. You just check call every street here (check the river, no call).
Hands like this bleed chips at the $4.40. You really didn't do anything wrong, but they are bleeders. The best way to avoid it is to just junk the cards preflop. Sure, you'll lose those times that it hit (and they are great paydays) but the chips you save in situations like this are more valuable.
If you don't want to fold, learn how to take over the hand (by betting) when you are on the draw. Many times, the best paydays on draws are the ones where you never see if the draw completes, because you took it down. -
^^ I agree, if u know ur going to call why dont u take control and bet out. I'm sure jarnuts thought he was beat when he pushed and u called. Had u bet the flop and then the turn, if no one folded the flop I'm pretty sure everyone would have folded the turn.
aggression gets paid.
