For all you teenagers kicking copious amounts of ass in poker, just wondering, do you actually live the way I fantasize about living if I was winning thousands a week? I mean, have you guys already bought dope cars, your own apartment, expensive ass clothes, all the gadgets & accessories you could want? Or do you guys keep all that money circulating around poker sites only?
I'm 20, learning still, making small profits, and it feels great to me when I go buy a pair of shoes or whatever with my poker winnings... I always imagine what I'd do if I regulary won 4 or 5 figure amounts. -
Some advice:
Put at LEAST half of it away.
You are going to want to blow it, but you'll go through cold card streaks and need the backup.
Spend 25% of your winnings on yourself for stuff you want/ need.
Put 25% back into poker to build your roll.
Invest 50%.
After a few years you can then become a pimp. -
I havent gone crazy, but I bought a pretty nice car, live in a very nice apartment, and have bought some other good stuff.
important to leave enough money to play poker tho lol -
I went on a shopping spree lately, bought a laptop for $3600, bought a Plasma TV with surroundsystem and an entertainment center to put it in, bought clothes and an iPod and such. I don't spend that much money besides these big purchases, I keep most my money in the poker accounts.
I'm nowhere near the earnings of the top successful players, however, so I don't have a Ferrari or anything like that! (HINT NSXT)
Soon enough! -
Exactly how young???? =)

Poker makes my lifestyle a mess. When im not in school, which was the case for about a little over a year, it was fine. But now that im in college it makes it hard to both play poker seriously and be a good student. I get up and go to bed at ridiculous hours and try to drag my ass to class the next day. I go out way to much and blow to much money at the bar. I miss way to many classes and now I am a part time student becasue of my lack of going to some classes.
However, poker has changed my life in many good ways as well. I can go out and have a blast whenever I want and not be concerned with money. I dont have to get a job and work for $7/hour. It gives me a enourmous amount of freedom. I try to save about 50% of whatever I earn as well as pumping 25% back in to move up in stakes. -
no i still consider that i dont have enough money to buy a car. All of my friends jsut want to punch me in the face as i try to explain that $5000 a year in insurance is UBSURD. no matter how much money you have. Therefore i have only splurged on non-insurance items.
Snowboard
Skateboard
Custom Built Gaming Computer
Home theater
$1000 in paintball equipment (including gun)
and of course paid my school tuiton in full.
Aside from that no.. there isnt a glamorus lifestyle here... i eat mr noodles and kraft dinner.. i dont go buying bottles of wines and rounds of drinks for my friends.. i dont drive a fancy car.. i dont wipe my ass with 100 dollar bills... Iam just a basic ole 19 year old college kid.
Maybe iam cheap, maybe iam smart. I just know i like having money and i do what it takes to keep the money in the bank. One day i will get to spend a nice chunk of it on a Porsche etc once iam financially stable and clearly set for many years.
