Not quite sure what to do on this river, and also I'd like to raise the turn more but I really feel he folds too much that he'd otherwise call for a smaller amount, particularly top pair hands.

Villain is active, and in a recent hand had raised 99 to 350 then called when I squeezed a flatter for 1500 and had an overcall all in of 1650. He then lead strong on a KT7r board into me despite the other player being all in.
  2. Your only plays here are to shove or check/call his shove. I really don't like check/folding your hand against such an active player.
He's been betting every street so far and if he's as active as you say he'll prob shove most of his range here (which includes air) if you check. If you shove, he'll be folding a bunch of weaker hands. If he has the flush (or another big hand), you'll both be getting your chips in either way, but checking the river lets him bet with hands that he won't call with.
Yes, there is the chance he'll check behind and you'll miss out on some value, but given your read and his previous behaviour, I prefer check/calling to shoving.

I think a defensive bet might work if u think he's overplaying JT or something, its a scary river card for him, i can see him flat calling a small bet, but agree that he will ikely shove if u check.
