So yeah, the 5/10 NL game at the fox, nothing special bunch of players who think they are way better then they are, plus some local degens, anyway, whatever, i got a nice quarterly bonus, so what does Pardo, G do? he puts it right in play....now for the action
The Master(that's me by the way) is in the BB with 10s 8s....my fav hand, really it is.
My Stack, $1,360...played TAG, taken some nice pots, nothing crazy, made no serious moves
Folds around to the Cutoff (this fat guy with a bellagio hat whos ass crack is hanging out the chair while the massage lady is trying not to puke)-been aggressive, nothing crazy knows what he's doing. Hes got 2.3K or so in front, I want to get a nice piece of that stack....He makes it 50 to go
Folds around to me-I raise it up, 150 to go....
He thinks for awhile like he's gonna repop but just smooth.
Flop
Js 9s 2h (itsss niiice....we likeeee)
I lead out for 225(strong move from the master)
Butt-crack....announces a raise...(hmm) he makes it a cool 500. (thats a purple chip just so you know-its kinda scary)
So now here we are, ive got an open-ended straight flush draw, and 375 invested in this pot (1K or so behind) No way he has AJ, he would have flatted the flop, im thinking KK, QQ or set obviously...things that usually go though my mind in situations like these are:
jesus ive only been here for 2 hours and its goin' down already, do i really want to drive home after stacking off on a missed draw, what kind of chips do I want with my sandwich before I get on I-95 and of course what amount do I tell the woman I lost if I go bust-350 sounds good...
I ship it.... he calls, and well of course I got there...As on the river he flashed JJ before mucking...too bad crack boy couldnt run it twice or thrice....anyway? Did I make the right poker move? what other options did I have? Even though no matter what you say Im shipping it everytime lol

Preflop is debatable, but not bad. Your only option really is playing it different preflop. When you take your line and hit that flop you certainly have to get it in.
-
fold pre imo

In a live cash game deep stacked I love getting those "Bust'em Hands" and nailing a flop like this. I'm sure you've seen these regs play AA, KK and QQ the same way so I'm getting ultra aggressive with this hand. UL you were up against a set but you are ahead of AA and KK here and about even money with QQ... Obviously this is the best semi bluff situation you can be in so if he didn't flop a set right there I think he has a hard time calling with any other hand and if he does call you have a shite load of outs... I'm over shoving this one 100% of the time.. I mean seriously, at worst you are a 42-58 dog so why not?

im in love .. a fellow p5er who has the same favorite hand <3

If you're going to play a hand like 108 s out of position and hit a flop like that you can't even begin to think about folding. If you 3bet a hand like that and get that flop whats the point in 3 betting pre if youre debating folding on that flop? As played I probably bet more on the flop so you can just expect him to fold or jam based on stack sizes.

yes always a toss up between 10s 8s and two black kings Kc Ks (the original long walk back to houston)
-
okay now how about this though? let's say I smooth instead....what would you do on the flop? lead out? check raise? how do you think it plays out....just curious
-
If you have the ability to reload and take advantage of these other players seeing you make a "crazy play" the I would ship and take your line. If you only have one bullet then I would have folded preflop OOP.
-
i have to imagine it would play out the same no matter if you checked or bet... neither one of you are folding.... neither one of you are just calling... whether it was you betting/3 betting/calling shove or it was you raising/shoving all the monies was goings in
-
what kind of a "master" 3-bets light and then folds when he hits a monster flop
seriously after you lead, even if he shows you JJ and shoves you still have to call. hell if you checked and he open shoved you only have like 1% or 2% less equity than you need if he has JJ. if his range is any set, AK of spades, AQ of spades, and A-Jo, you're still ahead of him flatout, not even considering pot odds -
i'd try to use reads to evaluate the situation. in a vacuum against a random live 5/10 player i like check/raising, but bet/calling is fine.

you really can't fuck this situation up unless you fold or play extremely passively
