  1. Ok, 10 handed game with about 6 mega gamblers and 4 nits.(I am one of the gamblers)

Im in seat 5, villain seat 7. A7cc
Button(seat9) staddles for 10, sb calls , bb calls, S4 calls, I call, cutoff (S8)pops it to 80, all limpers call so of course I do.

Keep in mind this is a game where everyone has at least 600-1500 on the table and ppl are moving chips like crazy and are not very good players. Also DEEP pockets.

Flop A T 4 rainbow. Its get checked all the way around LOL. Im putting Orig raiser on huge hand like AAA cuz he is a nit. Turn is Q that makes a flush draw. Checks around to seat villain seat 7, who fires out about 220 quickly, he has about 450 behind after the bet, I have 700 behind. Villain is a gambling redneck chip mover type who can make plays with ATC. It folds around to me and im about to fold, but then think about it, while he stares at me intently. Now im putting him on KQ suited w flush draw or qj suited w flush draw.
About 1 minute later I announce all in and he puts it in about 20 seconds later after some thought. We run it twice, brick, brick I take down a big pot with a pair of aces.

Thoughts? I wasnt sure if I was bluffing him or not.
  2. anyone?

  3. sigh..i miss live poker already..

typical loose 2-5 nl live cash game here..im guessing buyins were 200-1000? maybe no cap

with so much action pre, its really hard to figure out if you are ever good with Ax here..he could easily have a combo of hands that beat you no even counting A bigger than yours

K J is a definite possibiity here as well as K 10 and any flush..keep in mind that a guy like him is going to have the goods about 25% of the time..
  4. Sounds to me like you made the right read and won a nice pot. Congrats.

I will say tho, from what my experience has taught me... that players that stare you down after they make a big bet do it for one of two reasons:

    1) They are extremely confident and believe they have the best hand. Typically this is a quiet player that may find you intimidating. (Not trying to brag, but when i have on an FTP hat, Vercase sunglasses, and i'm doing chip tricks with my off hand, it looks pretty intimidating to an average tourist player. If you have that kind of image, one that exhudes confidence, or maybe have a lot of chips in front of you and have been playing well, that would also count) How does the other player view you? Being able to hold eye-contact is very hard for a weak player when they are trying to run a bluff.

    2) They are full of shyt. Other players use a staredown or maintain eye-contact to be intimidating. Look for a player that is aggressive and confident at the table. Maybe a young kid who thinks he's a badass or an old man with lots of money and doesn't mind gambling.

In your case, it seemed to be the latter. Redneck, lots of money, staring you down... ya probly full of shyt.

    Nice pot.
  5. lol @ running it twice in a 2-5nl game
  6. did you really laugh out loud upon hearing this?
  7. Why are you shoving when there is someone left to act behind you that you said you had just "put on a huge hand"?

  8. 16 bb preflop call is bad either way with a7
  9. i laughed at most sentances in the original post...guy made it 80 at a 2-5nl game so he called with a7 or a8 whatever it was because everyone else did...good move u might get that AA8 flop and maybe someone has ak or something....should work out like it did in this hand the majority of the time in the future
  10. He was getting about 6.5-1 to make the call. Still a bad call?
  11. yes
  12. ok
  13. i mean if the stacks are really deep and the opponent is awful and capable of putting in huge amounts of money with draws or bluffs then fine but i doubt the poster has this knowledge..i know hes getting huge pot odds but what flop is he hoping to hit where he can win a huge pot? even given the description of the table i wouldnt call a single raise let alone a massive reraise with a shitty A like that...id much rather have 32 suited then A8 but hey what do i know...the fact of the matter is he had a lucky situaion arise in this hand and the majority of the time hes giving away $80
  14. Did this hand take place in Tunica, because I don't know of any other casinos that let you straddle on the button?
  15. Jsup, come on. He was suited! He was looking for the 's.

Am I the only one that laughed at this?
  17. wow they let u run it twice? is this normal in most casinos or just where u played?
  18. basically if i flopped a big hand, im getting paid with everyone in the pot. how can i fold, that would be too nitty. guy i put on a "huge hand" had folded and it was just me and the maniac.

i thought i had a read on him is why i moved in and partially because i thought i had this particular player beat, although someone else may have folded a better hand than me. I forgot to mention i saw the maniac put in 500 preflop with qjs. I am quite good after the flop in live cash games especially which is why i call lots of raises preflop and try to outplay ppl. this may sound like an odd play obv, but i pay very close attention to opponents and try to get every bit of information i can from them, and i was quite confident in making this play.

  19. "i mean if the stacks are really deep and the opponent is awful and capable of putting in huge amounts of money with draws or bluffs then fine but i doubt the poster has this knowledge.."

Oh i did, that is why i made this play. The stacks are so deep at this table and everyone has a few K in their pocket so why not gamble?? In these games you have to give action to get action most of the time.
