So I'm playing 5-10 NL cash at a live game, this is what happened, and I got drilled by 2 guys at my table for playing this poorly. Just wanted to know what you guys think.
I have ~$900, Villain A ~$1500, Villain B ~$2500
Villain A is not playing many pots but is pretty aggro, villain B is pretty loose playing a lot of smallish pots when he can (but he is a good player). I have I think a good table image, not playing many pots and my raises get respect.
Villain A raises UTG to $60
I am next to act and look down at QQ, I reraise to $150
Villain B on the button calls, A calls.
Flop Q c, J c, 8 h
(so I have top set with ~$460 in the pot)
Villain A bets out $225
I think a bit and push all in for $850
Now Villain B folds A-Q which is what everyone gives me crap for, and I end up talking KK into calling (that was good work imo)
Would you try to entice Villain B by smooth calling? Is this a clear case where the idiots at the live game at 5 am have no idea what they're talking about? -
I've had other players tell me the same thing when I stack off and get called by one player or one player falls for my tricky play (small bet: weak lead) with a set and get pushed by a player with TPTK.
Yes, it would be nice to smooth call and get some money from two players. The problem with calling is allowing bot players a cheap shot to get a draw to beat you.
I'm with you. They are the losers. They want the cheap shots to take you off. Your play worked. You got the money. Just sit back and stack chips.
5:00am I think they are punch drunk monkeys -
On that flop, with a straight AND a flush draw, slow playing would spell doom!!! Well played!
