I was playing a $1/$2 NL cash game, $200 max buyin yesterday when a hand came up that was quite interesting. I just wanted to throw it out there to see how others would have played this.
I have about roughly $300 in front of me and have been playing somewhat tight (folded my SB a few times with no raises). There is a guy who sat down a few minutes before and has been a super maniac raising almost every hand and he just won a really big pot (is up to about ~$650). He is sitting 2 seats to my right. I am the button this hand. The action folds to him and he makes it $20. I normally would raise with JcJs but I decided I wanted to trap this guy and just called on the button. The BB also calls (he had about $200-250).
The flop comes 10c 4d 5d...
The BB checks...the maniac who I expect to bet checks too, I bet $40 and the BB quickly makes it $100. The maniac folds (I was pretty sure he had nothing) and now I sat there thinking about the range the BB could have to call out of position a raise of $20. I put him on either a set like 55 or 44, 2 pair like 45, or a pair of Tens with a flush draw like AdTd. I was pretty sure I was ahead but I was leaning toward the pair with a draw and after thinking about it for a minute, I folded my hand face up. I just thought it would be better to wait for a better spot as I had only put $65 in the pot and was probably at best 50/50 to win.
The BB flipped over his hand, 10d 9d for the pair with a flush draw. I knew the percentages were very close if he had a hand like this and I didn't want to play a coinflip. I ran it through the poker calculator when I got home and the odds were 50.2% (JcJs) to 49.8% (10d9d). I wanted to see what others thought about how I played this hand...should I have put him all in (I couldn't just call he only had about $100 left after the raise) or folded like I did? What do you think?
I probably should have just re-raised pf to protect my jacks. -
I always try to get in the last bet in a Live 1/2 Game with top tier hands.. Definatly re-raising and reevaluating depending on who the players are and what they are doing. You will still get action on your big hands and hopefully they hold.

disciplined fold dude. as for gamblin for yo stack, matter of personality i think. i'm inclined to in a cash game if i have slightly the best of it, though as you said there are a lot of hands that have you basically drawing dead.
it's not easy to get away from those spots. i think those kinda folds are profitable in the long run. -
I love your fold here as you can beat AT, and thats the only hand you are much of a favorite over and if he has a pair and a flush draw you are flipping a coin and if he has a set you are only about 10% to improve. You said it right when you can wait for a better spot, The only thing I don't like about the way you played your hand is showing it, Now it will be harder for you when you have a tough decision you have to factor in the fact that they might be bluffing you because they seen you fold a hand they might not of folded and have you as a weak playing in their minds. You gain nothing by showing unless you agree to show if he shows also. Just remember you sometimes have to fold the best hand to be playing poker the right wy, He played it well and earned it. It also looks like you have a crazy man on your right so thats probably a better situation than rishing on whats probably best a coin flip.
Hope this helps a lil.
Good Luck

despite what he had, the action and his line looks so much like a set that it is hard not to fold there.
with only like $60 in i think you can find a better spot, particularly with this maniac 2 to your right.
