Northern Quest Casino in Spokane is hosting a rebuy game on Sundays, with added bonus for top 2 finishers. Top 2 will be entered into a 2 day event ($40K gauranteed first place; $425 direct buy in) at the end of January, in addition to the regular prize money won.
Questions:
1. Most players have played conservative during the rebuy period in the past. Shouldn't you do everything possible to get as many chips on your table as you can?
2. If 1 is correct, is it unethical or against any rules to discuss this with your table mates BEFORE the cards are in the air? Is it smart to discuss strategy?
3. Is there any other advise from some rebuy experts?
Format: Not so good; 20 minute blind intervals; $25 buy in for 5000 chips; $10 rebuys for 2000 chips during the first hour; $20 add on at first break for 5000 chips. first 3 levels are 100/100, 100/200, and 200/400.
Thanks in advance. -
Depends on how much you are willing to rebuy. If you are willing to rebuy a few times, play aggressive. If you only want 1 or 2 rebuys, it's best to play it just like a freezeout.
So to answer:
1) Depends.
2) NEVER EVER discuss table strategy simply for your own benefit.
3) Simple advice: Pick on the nutjobs that call EVERY raise pre, check to you, then fold to a c-bet. These people are so easy to pick up chips from and then they will rebuy.
FYI -- Structure BLOWS. -
I've played a few live rebuys. Most of them being up in the $100 level and a lot of the people play the exact same as they do in other tourneys. I usually just run into a bunch of old men that are either going to call you or not because of their cards.
I'm usually really aggresive with all my draws and top pairs. I'm also getting into a lot of pots with medoicere hands but there is no point to be shoving pre or doing any of the craziness that sometimes happens online.
Its just important to know who you are playing against and have an idea on their outlook of a rebuy. The prize pools don't get huge so you don't want to spend to much money. Also you can create a really good image if your crazy during the rebuy period. Cuz all these old farts will think you are terrible.
