Late in the daily noon tournament at the Venetian. About 15 left out of starting field of 130. In the $ as 18 we're payed.
Have a stack of $52,000 (slightly below average) with blinds at 3000/6000 with 500 ante.
In the cutoff and it's folded to us. The button has about 25K, the SB about 60K, the BB about 38K.
You look down at AJ off.
The button has folded to our raises all day unless he had a very big hand (AQ+)
The SB is new to our table with the combination of the last 3 tables down to 2 and hasn't played a hand in 1.5 orbits.
The BB is new to the table with the combination, has been aggressive (played 4 or 5 of last 10 hands dealt), and lost about 40% of his starting stack by calling off smaller stacks with holdings like QT off.
How do you play it and why?
1) Shove
2) Raise 2.5x BB with plan to fold to a shove
3) Raise 2.5x BB with plan to call a shove
4) Fold
5) Limp/fold
6) Limp/shove
7) Other?
I chose to shove and think it was the right play, but very interested in others' thoughts.
Thanks for your help. -
I'd pick 3; I don't like shoving here, suppose button and BB have AK and AA, they are certainly gonna call; you still leave yourself time to get out if there is ridiculous action behind you. If just one of them raises you, I'd definitely consider a call. What happened btw?

<STRIKE>6) Limp/shove</STRIKE>
2, 5 and 6 should never even be remotely considered in this position. They are 1000% horrible.
4 is just playing wayy too tight. You make a move with much much much less here.
3 really is just fancy...no one should expect you to open a pot with < 10bbs and not plan on getting it in
1 seems like the best option. you could possibly be called by weaker A's (or even K's) and definitely by low-end pps. shove and ul if someone wakes up with la goods. -
I'm shoving here - especially w/ less than 10bb - hopefully you'll pick up the blinds and antes...

Easy push, even with more chips or weaker holdings than what is a strong hand for the circumstances.

I think you gave way more information than you needed to.
You are very short stacked, sitting in the cut off with AJ, and it's folded to you.
Shove 100% of the time no matter who the other people at the table are. Hope you are lucky and a weaker hand calls you. It's very possible. Given the situation your shoving range could be wider than AJ or better.
