  1. Live tourney , $650 buyin, 250 players , 30 pays.

We just got to last two tables and this comes up!

    Blinds 1k-2k, my stack 70k , avg 80k!

Utg makes it 6k, folds to me I make it 15k
BB CALLS, UTG calls!! ( forgot to mention I have 99)

Flop- 4-3-3, BB checks, UTG checks, I make same bet of 15k,
BB Folds, UTG goes allin, I tank and like a "chicken"? I FOLD!!

Please help me with play thru out!!

Btw, was an older guy,(that was in my thoughts)
He also ended busting 10 hands later on a flush draw with 2-5!

  2. What was villians stack?

  3. Assuming the villian is deep, I don't mind the fold being UTG raised it pre. If you had no other reads to that point to indicate he would be weak with his UTG bet and then check raise, a fold here isn't horrible. Maybe my approach here is too nitty as well.

  4. YA he had well over 100k , i had been there maybe 5 hands and was thinkin if it wasnt for his UTG raise i mighta called , but , for me it wasnt the fact that the next pay bubble was coming, i just honestly put him on a pair very close to 8's thru j's

  5. If you are applying this range to the villain then why 3b pre with 99?
I don't see the need to 3b here pre especially because I can safely assume you weren't 3 betting to 5b shove and were most likely folding to a 4b in which case you are losing all value out of 99.

Also when listing a live hh always helps if you mention your position at the table you said the villain was utg and the bb called but we have no idea where you were sitting (this is important for such factors as inducing a squeeze behind you or in your case when you 3b pre how many stacks there were to act behind you)

As played it is a tough spot I probaly don't fold tho I have a tough time putting villain on 1010+ with the pre flop action

    Completely agree with this.

As played I don't like your fold here. You invested quite a half of your stack just to fold? I think this is not a good play.
  7. Yeah, i'm not 3b pre either. As a general rule, i play tighter in live mtt's, especially without any history.
