  1. Just curious if anyone has experience with this. I almost never play live, or cash games for that matter, but curious about numbers.

I've heard people say that online is much harder than live. For example, people have said that 1-2 NL cash games online is much tougher than 1-2 NL cash live. Can someone estimate the difference. Is 1-2 online comparable to 2-5 live (on average). How about 5-10 online? How does that compare to live (on average of course)?

How about MTTs? Are the 1000$ buy-in tourneys at the WSOP comparable to $100 freezout online? 100R online?

Not being very articulate but can someone make a reasonable comparison?

  2. A $1000 live tourney=$50 (or less) online tourney, for real!
  3. 1/2 online=5/10nl live, <10k buy ins live=standard donkament sunday majors online.
  4. Live 2/5NL = .10/.25NL Online

I know nothing about live MTTs but as for NL$1$2 Cash Games? Ridiculously easy live compared to online. I honestly wouldnt even know what level of online stakes the average Casino $1$2 game can be compared to. Lowest I've played online is .25 .50 and the players at online .25 .50 tables are WAAAAAYYY better than the Live $1$2 games. Most people who go to the trouble of even downloading an online poker site and funding the account probably play at at least a somewhat regular basis. $1$2Tables at Casinos will probably have a few players who play regularly but there are usually at least 3 or 4 guys per table who have no idea what they are doing, basically know the rules ( a flush beats a straight etc) but not much else.

If I had to guess I'd say that a live $1$2 Casino player is probably on par with or worse than the average play money player online. Remember, $1$2 is the lowest game that you will find at a casino so if a play money online player goes to a casino they will be playing $1$2.
  6. It doesn't really matter.

You should only play what you roll allows anyway. I'm only rolled for .50/1 online but when I went to LV obv had to play 1/2 and did fine - the games are as easy as people are saying.

BUT even if .50/1 online is the same as 2/5 or higher live doesn't mean I'm going to jump into that game next time im in Vegas.

Or should I be? Surely variance will just bite me in the ass!??

depends on what $1k u are talking about but i would even go down as far as $20 online, possibly even less for certain tourneys.

just know that there are donkeys everywhere.
  8. as far as cash games go, $1/$2 in vegas is prolly like 5cent/10cent online.

its seriously that bad. players are much much much better at the same stakes online compared to live.
  9.  If you are consistently successful at .5/1 online then I dont see why you would play 1/2 live unless it is just for fun. Unless you get really rediculously unlucky, playing higher stakes is still going to be very profitable.

Ya stick to 1-2 live. 2-5 could be considered but if your bankroll allows for u to play .50/1 online dont jump any higher because people who play live have really no respect for their money and will consistently put u to the test

    this.

a $60 daily tournament at any casino is roughly a $10 sng online.

a $300 borgata friday special tournament is roughly a $5 tournament online. a fun game to play is "count the mistakes" while playing live. the more atrocious bets and atrocious calls you notice, the better a player you are.

its sickening the number of people that seriously throw away hundreds of dollars playing expensive tournaments when they really have no clue. sure its gambling and fun for them but come on
