Thorladen is heads up in the 500 on stars with roughly 7.5 mil in chips to the other guys 2.5 mil. 2nd place guy agrees to deal for 70k and throladen gets 79k. They left 7k in the middle and 2nd place already pays 66k.
Cliffnotes: 2nd place is an idiot -
So when he is outchipped by almost 3-1, he guarantees himself 4k more than 2nd? plus a slim chance for 7k more? Why is he an idiot? Or am I the idiot? What am I not getting? Why isnt thorladen the idiot with that CL? What does 1st pay?

Maybe I am the idiot but If I was that deep in the tournament there is no way in hell I would take a guaranteed 3k more instead of playing it out for the 24k difference.

1st gets 91250
2nd gets 66450
Given that:
<TABLE border=1><TBODY><TR><TH>Player</TH><TH>Chips</TH><TH>Prob 1st</TH><TH>Prob 2nd</TH><TH>Equity</TH></TR><TR class=oddrow><TD>Thor
</TD><TD>7.5M</TD><TD>0.7500</TD><TD>0.2500</TD><TD>$85050.00</TD></TR><TR class=evenrow><TD>Player 2
</TD><TD>2.5M</TD><TD>0.2500</TD><TD>0.7500</TD><TD>$72650.00</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
If 2nd got 70k, and a 25% chance at 7k more, the equity in his deal was $71750.00
He loses $900 in equity, assuming both players are equally skilled.
I don't see this as that bad. -
Well to be exact I think thor had 7.1 and the other dude 2.4 so it changes the numbers a little bit. Math obv shows its a better deal than I expected but I still think its a bad deal. There is just no way in hell I would take it and honestly I would throw the 3k away everytime to have a shot at 90k instead of 66k.

I dont see why that was bad for him at all. 4k or whatever it was is alot of money to alot of people and he was way outchipped and playing against someone with a ton of hu experience. I was alot closer to not taking it then him. BTW it was based on chip count which i think is pretty accurate HU, its not like deals that favor the big stack multi way.
