So yesterday afternoon I went down to my local dog track and was playing some 1/2 NL with one of my friends. I live in Fl so this game is ridiculously soft. After 2 hours I was up 350 from buying in 100 (the maximum) so we left to go watch our friend perform at FGCU where we go to school. So we went out to eat and went to see him perform and we had planned on going back to the track.
So I get to the track and prolly my 7th hand I look down at 77. Raised to 12 before the flop and get 4 callers. The flop comes 895 rainbow. Ok... one guy leads out 18 and I come over the top of him for another 90, and this guy calls me with 83..... I was like wow. so I rebuy another 100 not caring all too much I know I can make it back fairly quickly and Im still up 250 on the da (which is a lot of money for me in one day im in college) Then I get dealt QQ raise to 12 and get 5 callers flop was dud get it all in and everyone folds so Im at 150 ish now. VERY NEXT HAND I get dealt QQ again. I overbet this time and brough it to 35 before the flop. Im in 5th position and the guy in seat 1 to the right of the dealer goes all in for 104 and the guy in the bb flat calls him with like 300 behind...???? WTF!!!! So I push 50 more on top of that and BB guy calls. So seat one turns over AQ and the BB turns over AJ. I was excited I was in a very good spot here theyre drawing to 2 aces or flopping a straight which would almost always flop the remaining queen and still give me outs to a full boat or they would need to to flop 2 jacks. So wouldnt you know it flop comes 5A6 rainbow. I was so frustrated it was a 475 dollar pot and I would have been up 275 on the night and 350 during the day so far. So im steaming I rebuy get down to 70 and push with KQhh and the bb who flat called before with AJ goes "I have to call this" and he turns over 5h6h I was like wtf are you serious. Well he had to call and apparently he had to flop a straight. I was so upset I just had dropped 300 dollars withing like an hour and I was so happy during the day time that I had won a lot of money I was on top of the world and now I feel worst then I ever have.
I came home and was playing a few SNG's and also busted the last 150 dollars in my poker acct online also all to ridiculous beats like me flopping 2 pair and a guy turning a higher 2 pair.
I have no idea what to do I feel so shitty about yesterday and everything in general poker wise right now this is just ridiculus cause I should have been up like 700 on the day yesterday if it wasnt for their fucking 2 outer but instead im hating life right now cause I dropped 550 and have like NO money right now. -
in my (limited) experience with "soft" live games, you are far better off trying to outplay people post flop than pre flop, you simply cannot get people to fold some hands before the flop no matter what you do-as your shove with KQ getting called by 56 indicates. the great thing is that when you make a standard raise (like 10 or so, raise more for each limper, etc-live standards seem to be higher than online) and they call with 56, they will still call when the flop is AJ5 or even KK5 sometimes even AAA. So, my advice to you would be to go back to that track play great hands like AK AA KK and QQ very fast and then play other hands in position, school people after the flop, good luck

Playing out of your BR is a good way to go busto unfortunately. If you lost 550$ and that was all your money, you shouldn't have been playing 1/2 NL i'm afraid....
but god DAMN i would like to get into that game with the AJ/AQ/83 guys.... -
Well it is and it isnt out of my BR. I mean thats all the money I had, but the track is where we go to have fun and Ive only lost a BI there once. Like its so soft the people are awful. And I was up 350 on the day and didnt think I could ever lose 550 seiroulsy im so like depressed right now lol

I would suggest no more gambling for you. Not that your a bad player, but you seem to have a tough time handling defeat.

I also find that the really small capped buy in live games have extreme variance. Especially with a 100 capped buy in, you will still have people calling out of position with 5 6 off for a third of their stack easily. Only thing I can say it that Post -Flop aggression, and pre flop hand selection is key in this type of game. Variance of a -3 BI is not that unusual. I have seen a drunk donk go through 6k swing in a live 200 dollar capped 1,1,2 game before in less than 2 hours.... God I miss playing that guy

why are you raising $12 with pocket sevens in 1/2 max 100 when you are getting 4 callers?
-
basically it seems like you got up 350....and started tryin to outplay people. People who dont mind gambling it up with shit cards. Losing that much with 77 in that spot.....bad play in my opinion, but your mindset was....oh im up so it dont matter. If there that bad then wait to hit a set and make bank.....

I didnt raise I smooth called the raiser. And I really did not put the guy with 83 on anythign but over cards because he was the one to raise before the flop and that was the reason for me pushing was because he raised before and my read on him was that he had overs and completely missed and if hes calling hes calling to hit a card.
