  1. For the last two weeks I stuck to a schedule, grinded the hell out of MTT's and was in the profit decent. Nothing to brag about but doing well. For me to just play multi's and grind was a bit of a chore. Then last night the moron bug kicked in and I wanted to play a little cash. I ran like shit, played to high and bang there goes all the work that I put in for the last 2 weeks.

The question is how do I control this, is the books I can read to obtain better self contol when I get that urge and lose control of the situation.

Just wonder, please flamers move on as this is serious post, with serious consequences.
  2. if u play on a laptop put it away when u r done ur MTT session. because even if u r just surfing the net the urge to play cash may be too much. other than that simply dont play cash, nothing any1 but u can do here bro,

  3. 12-24 hours self exclusion is a wonderful thing
  4. The problem is that you are a "gambler" if you cannot control this impulse. Besides self exclusion for short periods of time there is another drastic step you can take.
Take your bankroll that you use for MTT only and turn them into T$. You may suffer on the backend of the exchange when you want to cashout but if you are any good you will be able to win a few $'s in mtt's and cash that out. This way you cannot play cash tables.
  5. thanks guy, good thing I have two weeks of solid work ahead, then after that a week off then 2 months. So prob not much time to play.

Which is prob another reason i tried to win extra and cost myself my whole online roll.
Not busto, just will have to back in some I have taken out. Sucks,

Just wished I could have stopped myself the 3 or 4 different time, that I thought I shouldn't be doing this. That doesn't happen often but once in a while is to much. At least for the way I feel about it afterward.

  6. I have thought about this idea, I usally transfer money back to my wifes account and as well have limits set on my account. Just seem without going to deep I always find way around it.

  7. This is a common problem for many players. The temptation to play cash and "win" back your tourney buy ins is too tempting. If you stick to a schedule buying T$ is a smart play anyway..GL
  8. Self-ban yourself from ring games. Did wonders for me!
  9. just have some self control. don't play cash games, only tourneys

  10. Practice self-control in all aspects of your life. If you think your self-control issues are exclusive to poker, you are wrong. Avoid making impulse decisions ever. Don't make impulse "buys" if you go to the mall or anything. Don't have dessert when you think need it. Make all of your decisions after you think them out and analyze situations. What you should say to someone next time you see them, what you should do with your paycheck, etc.... I don't believe it is possible to be disciplined in poker if your life is undisciplined. Go read Maven's article, which is an excellent read about subject matter similar to this.

  11. I used to do this often in my first few years of playing ... I never played MTTs just cash and would play way too high and have to start from scratch again. What I know has helped me is having a plan. I write out a monthly plan and divided into weekly tasks (for volume) and i find that trying to complete the weekly tasks keeps my mind off playing cash game which keeps me from taking a bad beat which keeps me from climbing up the stakes and playing out of my roll. If i complete a weekly task which is pretty rare because i set the bar pretty high... I stop playing until the next week begins.

  13. I am thinking self-exclusion from cash would be a good idea for me too....but, er, how do you do it?

Under the "requests", there only seems to be a total self-exclusion option....

    EDIT: this is on stars.

Email support and ask them to ban you from cash games but still allow access to mtt and sng
