So I refrained from this thread for a few days, but I was playing the first event at the Bellagio when the following scenario happens. It may not be 100 percent accurate, but in the first level with 6k starting chips we are probably 6 handed. I think, but I'm not entirely sure that mattg was at the table as well as USCphildo (the player involved in the hand). If I'm wrong about the players at the table, I apologize, but I don't know a lot of the online guys by face except for a few pictures here and there that I recognize. Barry Schulman raises it up to 150 with 25/50 blinds. USCphildo calls as does another player I think. Flop comes K 8 7 with two spades. I think Barry bets small and USCphildo calls. The turn is a 9 of spades. Barry Schulman bets 300 and USCphildo makes it 800. Barry calls. The river is a red jack. Barry checks. USCphildo bets 1500. Barry Schulman thinks for a second and raises to 4000 total. USCphildo takes off the headphones, shakes his head, smiles and studies the board for maybe 10 seconds. Then he grabs his chips and says "well, here ya go I guess" or something of that nature. Barry Schulman flips over 3 4 of spades and phildo quickly turns over QJ of spades for a higher flush. At this point, Barry Schulman starts berating USCphildo in a manner that I've never really seen at a live poker table in the first level. He says stuff like you better just stay on the internet. I've never seen anything this classless in my life. You are lucky it's me and I don't punch you in the face. Phildo responds politely and says I wasn't trying to slowroll you I just thought you had the nuts. Schulman just says stuff like if you thought I had the nuts why didn't you fold. You were just showboating. Stay on the internet.
I'm someone who never says anything at a live table even though I occassionally lose my mind in the online chat box, but I felt the need to say "we don't make bad check raises like that on the internet." I mean Phildo was nowhere near out of line, but this grumpy old joke of a player goes off on him.
This guy is pretty high up in one of the biggest poker media sources and acts like this at the table. I have a big problem with people who don't treat young players with respect because lots of young players are paying their money just like the rest of these grumpy old men keeping their live tournaments going.
This just really bothered me and I wasn't going to say anything as I'm not someone to bash people ever in the poker realm.
Seriously though, if that player was USCphildo, I respect you for handling the situation like you did because I would have been permabanned from the Spadeclub had that been me. -
"we don't make bad check raises like that on the internet."
get owned so badly, pour that alcohol on the open wound

god who cares. sometimes we take things the wrong way and want to assume someone is slowrolling us with the 3rd nuts. if you lost all respect for the guy for blowing up at the table one time, then you expect too much from poker players. poker isnt the most sophisticated game when it comes to the characters who play it.

2nd nuts and i understand most poker players are shitbags, but this guy is probably in a position more than most to be an ambassador to any player. I act like an ass sometimes and don't think it's ever the right thing to do, but this just seemed like it was all too common for this guy.
