I don't post on this site much, but I do read whats relevant to poker on this site often, and I came across St. Pauli's post titled "Horrendous Shove" In this thread, St. Pauli describes a hand he played, as well as describing how Ahh Snapp made a comment from the rail about the action before the hand was complete. St. Pauli also described how this comment potentially affected whether he was to proceed with his hand or to fold, like Ahh Snapp so unnecesarily predicted from the rail he would. I have been playing for some time now, and I have seen so many incidents like this where people, whether at the table or on the rail, decide to put in their 2 cents about a hand in progress and it fucks up the hand. There are reasons comments like these are not allowed at the table, and they are extremely valid. I went into some detail in St. Pauli's thread on this issue, and don't feel like typing it again, so if you want further explanation refer to that thread. I am making this thread to help spread awareness on why comments during a hand are unethical and illegal, and I am also hoping to at least prevent some people from doing this in the future. I'm sure this thread will on page three in about 20 mins, as most people here seem to care more about gossiping or self-promoting than actually talking about poker, but hopefully people will see this and learn about the rules regarding talking during a hand. (If you didn't already know)

Douchebags cant stand that ;sdga;lgd;flasfgl;dsk
And I say BS to anyone who claims they didnt know the rules. If roles were reversed they would understand the implications of talking during the hand -
it doesnt seem that anything ever happens to the people that do it though. IMO sites should worry more about people that talk about hands while it is in progress, than banning peoples chat for saying get aids and stuff like that.

To quote four6suited at the Sunday Million the day after he was disclosed: "It's the internet". Sadly, that is how a significant percentage of the world looks at it. I guess we can try to encourage the appropriate play among people we know, but I think on the internet, this type of thing will always occur. Sux....

Agree Tom.. and F bonds

Sometimes we get so caught up on trying to be kewl, we stick our
foot in our mouth. Talking during a hand isn't a slight infringement,
or something to be "joked" about, it's showing gross negligence for
poker rules & etiquette.
Thanks for your valued contribution SB & co... -

I had a situation similar to this yesterday when faced with a river bet holding top two against a board where the river completed the flush draw.... Someone at the table spurted out folding 2 of that suit while my timebank was running. That comment strongly influenced my decision to make the call and even before I called I let that player know how irate(sp) I was that he/she would ever make that comment when I was obv. facing a tough decision. This was only a $10 tourney, so I can imagine how pissed others that play much higher get when things like this get said.
Oh yeah, I called and was shown the flush... gg sanity -
I feel very strongly about this and totally agree with you SB thanks for the post

I could care less what you call me or my momma over the internet.
But I report people talking about a hand during play 100% of the time! It pisses me off to no end, and for some reason they dont see why its a problem. Ive had a few people tell me I was crazy and it wasnt against the rules at all!?!
I think that should be instant chat bannage for atleast a couple months 1st offence and lose it forever the 2d time. But no.. all I get is the "we warned them" responce. -
I have never seen ph comment on a hand that was in progress from the rail so that the entire table could hear.

avoiding page four in 3, 2, 1 and now seriously i have seen this too much lately at the tables and it really needs to stop, have some respect for the game if not the players
-
great post Tom... people need to learn to shut their fucking mouths when a hand is in play, and this is coming from a loudmouth...

most ppl dont know the rules (or some just dont care) or proper poker etiquette. if u have cards u can say whatever u want for the most part (obv not anything, and tourneys/cash games have small differences), but if u arent in the hand u need to stfu about anything remotely related to the hand or something that might influence action. like i fold, and it gets around to the button who raises, and i point out that he's done it the last 2 orbits, u just dont say shit like that if u arent in the hand. or if there is 3-way action and one guy is allin, and i say something like "we can just check it down" or "i dont have to bet". that is open-collusion, and i have seen it several times live and online. most of the ppl just dont know any better, but it really sux when a hand is tarnished by something like that especially if the result is u getting screwed, and the action gets influenced by someone not in the hand or apparently in this case someone not in the game (lol). these days alot of the ppl learn the game online and sites dont really police stuff like that so they really dont know any better when they go play live, or in there everyday online games (if they are chatters). like in the 05' wsop main event when mike matusow and some dude were in a hand and the flop came something like A A x (?), sean sheikhan beat his fist on the table and it was obv he woulda flopped trips, so that changes the whole dynamic of the hand, and soooooo easily can affect the action (could lead to a bluffing battle etc. or one guy pays the other guy off). i didnt start out poker knowing all the proper ettiquete etc., but everyone's gotta learn sometime.
