grinded out like 500 fpp on ps and took a dumb shot at the 400 +R fpp sat. to the sun mill, like i always do...somehow had 99 beat ak and grinded my way into the tourney...i havent been back to a big dance in awhile but i was wondering how everyone else felt when they first took a shot at the big time...its a pretty sick game out there, hope i can survive.

I won a $6+.60 satellitte to the $200 guarantee on FTP a while back. I was out in about 40 minutes with an ill-advised pocket 5s OOP. :(

I'd like to think I'm smarter about such things now. I haven't played a $200+15 tourney since, though.

satty'd into the 750K guarantee for 50 full tilt points and got out like an hour and a half into the tourney cuz i played scared

bodog 100k gaurantee and placed 3rd for 9200. still my biggest score to date.

Played the first and second WCOOP events on the same day. Got sucked out hardcore in first NL event with AK vs AJ, so I was depressed and decided to satty into event 2, which was 5 card draw. Won, and got put on a table with BodogAri and ultimate pokerstars Pro Bill Chen. Eliminated Bill Chen and then failed 100 away from cash :<

played in WSOP '06 as a present from my dad for 21'st bday. (he usually plays 1-2 events a year for fun) 1,500 dollar event. phil laak shows up 10 minutes late. 2 to my left. jennifer tilly comes and sits behind him reading some lawn and garden magazine. phil away from the camera is just as funny and outgoing as he is on tv. at one point he fell asleep and had to be woken up to put in his BB. the only hand i played with him (dont flame me, i didnt have a clue back then) i raised 3x on the button with AJo he asked me if i played online. i told him a little bit. he 3bets me. i flat. (HAHA, for like 1/3rd of my stack.) then he cbets the flop and i fold like a bitch. so i was owned by phil laak. later though i saw him in the hallway of the rio and talked to him for a minute and he was very cool and took the time to talk to me about the hand. great time.

Won a $33 rebuy satellite to the '06 PCA. Day one was nerve racking. Had Bernie Lee to my right and John Phan to my left. Lost half my chips after about seven hours of play. Then I picked up pocket tens on the button. The blinds were at 200-400. I had 5600 behind. The player UTG raised to 1600. A player in mid position called and Bernie Lee called. I thought about shoving but decided to call and if a ten or undercards didn't flop I could still have enough chips behind to make a move. John Phan in the small blind decided to call as well. There was 8000 in the pot when the flop came down King Ten Nine. I'm thinking to myself," Yes! But also no. Someone might have flopped te nuts." Everyone checked to me and I thought for a second. Then I decided that there was already too much in the pot to worry about that and shoved. Plus if someone did flop the nut straight I would still have outs. Everyone folded and it more than doubled me up. I finished up day one with about 14K in chips. Day two started with a redraw for new seats and tables. Once again Phan was at my table but luckily he was on my right. If I recall correctly the blinds were at 300-600 with a 25 chip ante. On the very first hand of the day I look down at pocket aces from under the gun and raise to 1800. The player directly to my left throws a 5000 chip in but doesn't say anything. That constitutes a call. As the next player calls he exclaims," I meant to raise." The dealer then asks everybody if they heard him say raise. I didn't say a word because I was hoping somebody did hear him say raise. I didn't want a multi-way pot. But in fact, he didn't say anything and it was just a call. The guy who already called was in the pot. When the flop came down Jack Four Deuce I thought to myself," Let this guy hang himself." So I checked and proceeded to bet about half the pot. The other guy in the pot then goes all infor his last 7K. I shove right behind him for about 10K more. The guy who initiated the action had us both covered with about 20K. He insta-called with pocket Queens. My hand held up and now had about 35K. I get moved to to another table about fifteen minutes later. A couple hands in I look down at QJ from the cutoff. I decide to raise to 2400 to steal the blinds. The big blind had about 14K and decided to minimum reraise me. So I call. The flop came down Queen Seven something. The big blind checks and I decide to put him all in. He insta-calls with pocket sevens for a set. I had already said nice hand and was ready to move onto the next. But a jack came on the turn and a queen popped off on the river giving a bigger full house! After that I went on a tear and built my stack to about 135K by the end of day two and in the money. Day three didn't go so well for me. Early on in the going I looked down at AQ from middle position and made a standard raise of three and a half times the blind. The small blind, Brooke Lyter, called. The flop came down Queen Nine Six. Brooke and I bet half the pot. He thought about it for a minute and decided to call. The turn card was a seven. Brooke immediately goes all in. I go into the tank for a minute and start to try to get a read on him. I start saying things like," Why the seven? You must really like that seven. He doesn't say a word but seems disinterested. I decide my top pair is no good and table my Ace Queen. He turns over pocket sevens and says," How do you lay that down?" Something just wasn't right. Anyway... I went on to finish in 39th for $13,500. A free week at one of the coolest resorts on the planet and a good run in my first major event. Not bad for $66 dollar investment!

Documented in Cardplayer article that was done on me after the fact but it has to be 2001 when I was dead broke and went to Reno to deal my first tournament ever (1st World Poker Challenge) with a freind referral although I 'd never dealt a tournament before.
Well I got to Reno 1 day early to get sheriff's card and all you need to deal in nevada and I met my shift boss and I asked him if I could play a satellite for $30. Like I said I was broke & I think I had 100 dollars to my name but I wasn't gonna play for 10 days so I wouldn't need $. So I sat in this satellite for $330 LHE buyin and was down to my last 40 chips in the bb & to make a long story sht I won 7 way pot with 93o and went on to win the satellite. I was a noob so I just wanted my $ and didnt want to play but the rule was you had to play so I did and I ended up winning the event for $47k. Out of the tournaments I have won I still look back at this one with the most nostalgia. Guess its no different from sex. Have no fucking clue what your doing but for whatever reason you always remember your first.

I bubbled the FT of a 75r at hollywoodpark, running KK in my BB into AA in the SB.

First year playing won a tourny token on UB in a $10 SnG... Got an email a few days later saying that the last Aruba qualifier was that night and thought thats all my token was good for so i played... Not much of an idea what i was doing, and it turns out it was a $100 rebuy, which i didnt know... Had no more money in acct so didnt rebuy, add on etc, and somehow luckboxed my way tto the win. Went to Aruba only to basically bubble the money... AK<AQ AIPF ... Robt Williamson rivered a straight

Doubled up on the second hand with TT against 34o (seriously). Played weak tight poker for an hour before I got AA. UTG raised and I for some reason smooth called in the SB. I proceeded to check/call all the way to the river and see him flip over KK. Then the table mocked me for being a total calling station. After that didn't do anything for a while. Eventually got short, pushed with 99 and lost a flip to AK, finishing out of the money.

Man did I suck back then.
