Is this normal?!? Anyone else have this problem and what options are there here. I was in a freaking bone marrow transplant for half a year so I didnt log into my account for a good 6 months. I emailed about getting the money withdrawn 6 months ago and never heard back, and log in today and its gone. Emailed support a few times, and no response.
So i plan on giving clear warning on this place from here on out. $6605 was in there and they just grabbed it up. so pissed off

ADMIN NOTE: The policy was 180 days before being changed to 5 years on Jan 7th 2011 -
Seems criminal to seize money that's yours - same thing as if your bank took your savings account because you didn't touch it for a year lol...
Seriously, though, best of luck getting that resolved. -
catch 22
-
Sounds very sketchy. party charges 5 Euros a month for any account inactive over 180 days. I always found this rule bad as well, but not nearly as bad as what you just experience.

It is in the TOS of Carbon, but very sketchy they would do this. http://www.carbonpoker.com/aboutus/terms.html
I believe Carbon does have live support available, have you tried that? -
Yeah, looks like they can do this. Damn, they get to earn interest on your money for six months, then just take it. I guess it is just too difficult to mail a check to address on file.
-
"If you do not access your CarbonPoker.com account by "logging in" to your Account using your Account Name and password for a period of one hundred and eighty (180) days, your Account may be closed and the entire Account Balance will be deemed abandoned and forfeited..."
lol wtf -
This sucks man- sorry that this happened to you and hopefully Carbon will refund you your money. If they fail to do so, then it shows that they are a pathetic and disgraceful company. Im sure it didnt cost them 6,600 to maintain that money...what a joke....ugh reading that they did this is making me angry.....GL

hey man! i remember you from venetian deep stacks last month, we chatted about you kicking cancer's ass.
fuck carbon poker. FWIW i've got the number for a good tax attorney who caters exclusively to poker players, so he might be able to help you out if you want to try and take some legal action. -
The OP likely has no legal recourse for getting the money back (to my knowledge, he can feel free to an attorney.) If he is telling the whole story, then the poker community as a whole has to stand up for him. Carbon has codified unethical behavior in their TOS; that does not make it any less unethical.

Hi Buchsbaumy,
First off, I hope your surgery went well. CarbonPoker does not charge a fee for inactive account like other poker rooms. Please PM me your username and I will look into this immediately. Please post, PM, email or IM me the username asap.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Atil
If anyone knows his CarbonPoker username, please let me know asap. Based on his real name in his P5's profile, "Paul Buchsbaum", he has never deposited on CarbonPoker. Unless he is using a different name etc. or I have the wrong account. -
Congrats on kicking cancers ass. May the good health continue. On that note FUCK Carbon poker, that is utter bullshit. GL
-
I would wait until I receive his username before making comments like this. I'm sure there is some sort of misunderstanding here and I will sort this out asap. Based on what I have found and believe to be his account his he logged in today, is that he never has made a deposit.
I will update you guys as I get a response from the OP.
Thanks again for bringing this to my attention. -
Right, I'm sure he just made the shit up. You guys thieve hard. F Carbon.

Edited By: Pghfan987 Jan 4th, 2011 at 09:07 PMCarbon Atil has been very professional handling this, and I commend him for that. It is certainly possible the OP has made an honest mistake (like he thought he made a deposit, but he never did), and it is possible the OP is 100% accurate. I will withhold judgment on this situation until all the facts are known. However, the Carbon TOS clearly makes this situation possible, which has me concerned.Originally Posted by Carbon Atil

Thanks Pghfan987. Lets just wait until he PM's me his CarbonPoker username and I will investigate it. I'm quite certain there is some sort of miscommunication here. CarbonPoker does not change any fees for inactivity.

Took roughly 2 hours but I got to chat with someone and explain my situation and was able to get the money back in my name. Dunno, maybe the small heat that they saw from just one thread helped. They seemed reasonable and possibly even scared of pissing off too many people with stories such as this so they were eager to get it resolved. They stated that most of the time when people go absent for 6-12 months they have under $100 anyways, and when its a case where a player has a larger figure and a steady reason for why they were not playing, they always help out, which they did. So naw im not proposing to rant on about this in other forums, I was certainly peed off to see it happen, and now I know not to go Awol for half a year on any of my accounts.
Also, fingers crossed I have a petct scan(which i get to pay for myself pffft) in 2 weeks and if i clear that my chances are up to around 60% to stay in remission. Playing the Venetian events threw my immune system into a downward spiral and had to fight off pnemonia 3 times since moving to vegas. These 25 degree nights and 40 mph winds are going to murder me so im staying indoors. thx for the prayers and emails about this that i get frequently. -
I would appreciate you not making accusations until I receive more details. Like I said earlier, this is some sort of misunderstanding. If anyone can get a hold of OP, please let him know to reply to me PM and this post.

I am talking about what is written in the TOS, not this situation specifically. It's not an accusation. It's a fact.

and i mean this, its not a BAD site or a site that is iffy when handling money situations as far as I see. The post about 180 days = abandoned is in many of our sites's agreements when we agree to register. Sick or not I was a tard if anything for letting half a year go by. Was the last thing on my mind in 2010.
Jane i DO remember you! You were banking like crazy 2 weeks straight at caesers and venetian. how many final tables did you end up with during those events? I was even telling my wife that you were crushing it nonstop. Ill see ya plenty this year most likely. gl '11 -
