I play micro limit holdem cash games alot and I've noticed something that is really incredibly donkyish. Say you have a good starting hand like AK and the flop comes Ace rag rag rainbow. top pair with top kicker so i bet all the way till the end with it, but if i believe that the player will only call with a hand that beats me, like hes got 2p or hits a miracle straight or something i will often check it at the end, especially if i'm out of position. This is where the donk comes out. When I check, the player will almost always assume that I have been bluffing the whole way, even though ive shown strength throughout the entire hand, so he bets, and Im not talking about a bluff here, Im talking about a VALUE bet, usually they have second pair or something, or maybe a weaker ace. Anyways its a perfect example of a donk, the bastards never think you have a hand.

check raise the river maybe?

Its a good idea, and i do it sometimes but only if i have a really strong read on them. I actually dont really like checkraising in limit games becuase if you bet out yuo are sure to get at least one bet, and you could get up to three, checkraising you usually get between 0 and 2 bets. I guess it would work in the same way as you would induce a bluff. The fact is these guys will call with anything, so most hands have a good amount of value in them, just bet bet bet and they will call call call.

Honestly, if you think you have the better hand you should bet and ensure you get the extra bet in. Also, you say that you see this at micro limits, same goes up to the 5.10 level, bet bet bet, call call call.
On a side note at the micro limits I am the manian capping every betting round just to blow off steam and give off bad beats. -
lol funny bdluss

Good, my favorite players to play against are maniacs. I can see why a lot of people get frusterated with them, but I always seem to do well against them. You have to pay a lot more attention to position, and be VERY careful with playing draws, becuase you could easily end up putting in 8 bets to see 2 cards without even noticing. The best way to play a maniac is just to call, NOT RAISE, when you think u have the best hand, and raise only when you know you have the best hand. Too many people try to play the raising game with marginal hands like top pair good kicker, which the maniac may not have beat all the time, but when he does have it beat he gets full value out of the hand. Also in terms of preflop hand selection, i tighten up a bit more, and wait untill im pretty sure im ahead to play a hand.

I like the check call on the River with only top pair, as you'll also induce bluffs from people on missed draws.

Bet river, simple....missing bets in limit hold is HUGE mistake
You make this play once....he is going to bet behind next time thinking you were bluffing again??
No need to be so fancy at such low stakes
