A record 66 people made up 22 teams in the biggest micro contest ever run on Pocketfives. Micro maniacs also set a record with 160 final tables including 28 wins. The lead changes were fast and furious throughout the week seemingly with every scoring update. 3 teams pulled away from the pack by mid week, Team Envious, Team Zonacrew, and Team Donkey Show who all took turns at the top in the final days and hours wrapping up the contest. With less than 24 hours to go Coltprod and former micro champion Chrispy2005 put Team Envious in a big lead with some nice micro wins and it looked like a lock to win the championship. But Team Zonacrew made up of online pros dpottz, Beck_AA, and bdubs3737 didn't hear the fat lady singing and Beck_AA was grinding 12+ tables in a final push for the win. His 1st place finish in the Micro Mania tournament on stars at the contest deadline pushed Team Zonacrew into the lead as the clock was winding down on the rest of the maniacs. In the end, Team Zonacrew wins the team championship and more importantly, micro bragging rights. Great job Zonacrew for making your permanent mark on the micro world.
Final Standings:
5,915.11 TEAM ZONACREW - dpottz/bdubs3737/beck_AA

201.38 TEAM HOF - srooney3/myst1cstylez/audiopulse
Props go out to Team Donkey Show, despite placing third in the contest, had 19 final tables in their top 20 scores. Individual props to emerging micro superstars Chrisp200, catdoggin, tedSTRETCH, dangitisuck, and sdanby who each put up some incredible numbers in their team contest debut. Garrr, Pokercheif29, and Chrispy2005 are always monsters in my contests and it's pretty standard to see them at the top. And of course to Beck_AA who put up an insane 3037 points by himself, and another 1500 points that didnt make the cut for this contest including 11 final tables in all. Beck_AA is by far the MVP.
Im sorry to the guys who made an actual effort, but whos teammates didn't show up. Unfortunetly I can't force anyone to play. I hope this doesn't discourage you from playing in the future. At least now you know who to avoid.
I want to thank everyone who played. You guys help make my contest one of the most successful poker contests online. I appreciate everyone's kind words, and I looked forward to the next contest, probably in the fall. HUGE thanks to my tippers. You guys rock. -
Obviously rigged!!!!! jkjk Congrates to the winners. Thanks again Mr Blonde.

thanks for running this mr blonde, as usual i ran/played bad and for the 2nd time running lost my internet connection but enjoyed it and will definatley be involved next time round
-
congrats but to be honest i would like a micro contest for people who grind only micros and not the uber genius pros.if enough interst i would run a contest like that for only micro grinders and not people who have 85k cash in one tourney

I'm not going to deny anyone from playing my contest. Usually the highrollers who jump in my contest do not fair well because they have a hard time taking it seriously. Beck is just a natural grinder. Dpottz was part of the original Micro Mayhem maniacs way back in 2006. I expected them to do well because they are all incredibly skilled. I didn't think they would win and actually bet against them. I understand what you are saying, but in actuality everyone who enters has a chance to win. Some just put in more time grinding than others. This contest usually showcases the micro talent on P5's. But I see nothing wrong with some pros stepping down and showing you how its done. I've also seen several micro players go from my contests to being ranked players. That always makes me proud. Not that I had anything to do with it.

who won the individual comp? I didnt see becks name on the list.\

I understand where you are coming from BUT there are many reasons why it is actually in our best interests to have such great players in this comp
1. If we were to play in a WSOP or even a Venetian Deepstack or for that matter any tourney there will be a range of skill levels - playing with and against people better than you often drives your improvement as a player just as forums such as Pocket Fives does. i think a win against a feild where limitations are placed would be a hollow victory
2. I use the comp as an extra motivation. I am as much competing against myself and driving myself to improve -- like a boot camp if u will. Yes I was fortunate to be part of a great team and I learnt from their observations.
3. I also had a chance to observe how these players played at this level - I was fortunate to be seated with sickos like Becks_AA, dpottz and pokerchief. I also watched other great players such as my team mates jbgoree and bigWillie20 deep in events.
4. The whole purpose of pocket fives is to be a forum that brings together people of all skill levels and experience from all over the world. i think to limit this comp would take away from what makes it great.
I guess at the end of the day I am looking at the comp from a different perspective where participation is the key, along with having some fun with a great group of 66 people - sure I want to win but if we had it would have meant that much more having beaten such balla players.
Hang in their Todd, you have much potential, focus on the positives and I am sure the rewards will come
Good luck at the tables
Steve -
thanks for another great contest blonde. i was pretty tilted i couldnt lock up the individual. I had about a 60point lead on pokerchief goin into the last day, and thought he wasnt playing b/c of his post saying he wasnt playing, then when im about to leave my house I double check and I see him 12tabling and snap reg for every tourny left around 9pm. Unforchantly I got a 3rd when I needed a 1st or 2nd and he took it down. I want to say congrats to pokerchief for winning the individual also to beck_AA and team Zona crew for a sick showing as always. also sick showings by chrisp200, enviouslol, and chrispy who were all at my tables alot during the week. Overall this contest was a great sucess and I had fun playing it.

Congrats to the winners.
Pokerchief your a sicko and keep grinding bro. Huge things coming your way.
also want to give props to sba55 (from my team) dude put up some good numbers and kept us alive in the comp and motivated me to go deep and ship a tourney. I felt bad for not producing more pts for the team. -
this...... notices ppl FT fulltilt small ass tournies and receiving bonus pts when its like what u said, nothing more than a sit n go

AGREED -
300 would be cool with me also. I don't blame those people that did play a bunch of smaller fields tho, was within the rules so why not use it to your advantage. Cosign on the 300 field size.

this was my first comp on p5's...it was fun. Thanks Mr.Blonde for running it and congrats to the winners!!
