I know this forum is mostly for online bad beats but this was so disgusting I had to share. Two hands in a row that were terribly played by my opponent and I was out. Same player mind you.
I've never been big on playing tournaments at Horseshoe Southern Indiana because the blind structures are horrid and its not even poker. You have to move in pre, or fold. However, when i saw that the Mid-America tournies would be deep stack events, I thought i would try my luck, as i have been up quite a bit online over the last few months. I've won most on Absolute, and after Kentucky residents were banned a few weeks ago, I've been trying to branch out.
The event i played was a $300+40, 7000 chips to start, and 40 minute blind levels. Everything about this structure is phenominal because I could actually play poker. I sat for the first blind level not really until about 35 minutes in when i picked up KK in the sb. There were 3 limpers, including the button. I had no respect for anyone at my table except one player who was stacking early but wasn't in this hand. The blinds were 25/50, and I knew if I made a standard raise to 150 or 200, they would all for sure call so i popped it to 500 total. The firstl limper folded, the cutoff ( who only had about 4k in chips seeing as how he was being a calling station ) called, and the button folded. The flop comes out Q5J with the Q and J being diamonds. There was about 1600 or so in the pot so I led out for 1525, hoping to take it down with all the draws possible. Without hesitating he announces "all in" and throws his chips in non-chalantly. It was only about 2200 more to me, and I put him on a draw the way he put his chips in, so I called. He turns over QJo for a flopped 2 pair. I threw my kings down, confused as to why he could call such a huge raise preflop with a trash hand and the shortstack. Turn came an A, giving me a 5, A, 10, or K to hit to win. Obviously I miss and I'm down to 1750 in chips.
The very next hand I'm on the button and look down at 1010. Second to act limps, the player who just played the QJo to perfection limps, and the button raises to 500. I of course, being angry about the last hand, and acutally have a good hand, go all in assuming someone will call me with crap because they think I'm just on tilt. Second to act mucks quickly, and the guy who I just doubled up says "I call" almost immediately. At this point I was thinking at best he had 2 overs on me. The button shakes his head and flashes his 99 to me and folds. I wasn;t very happy to see an inferior hand fold but HU is better for me in this situation anyways.
I stood up and threw my 10s on the table, waiting to see his trash hand. He says "well I've got your kings", and flips over KK. At this point I almost lost it. I was so confused as to why he would limp call huge raises with QJo and then limp into pots with KK in the cutoff, where people would assume he's stealing and most likely see a flop with him. The flop comes A59 rainbow, and I grabbed my iPhone and headphones to leave the table. As I stand up the dealer peals off the 10 of diamonds and the whole table erupts. I of course start back toward my seat, but just as I start to get relieved, the K of hearts comes off on the river. I felt so sick. I mean I had the worst hand, fine, I'll go out, but to give me the 10 and then have the K come on the river is just gross.
I was just going to leave the table without saying anything to this player because I wanted to let him know how bad he was, which was obvious to everyone at the table. The player who limped second act then proceeds to announce to everyone that he fold KQ suited preflop to my all in. So the guy 1 outs me on the river, after he just played both hands horrifically bad. I had to leave at this point before I blew up so I made my way out of the poker room and to my car. I dont think I could of played the 2 hands any better than I did but any input on the situation would be greatly appreciated. It's always the really bad players that seem to screw me over in live tournaments. -
Wrong. Its a place to discuss everything related to poker, not just bad beats.
I've played two WSOP Circuit events there and thought the structure was really good.
