  1. is min raising in tourneys profitable?

  2. Yes, If you are a good player & know how to play post-flop. It's one element of a game plan & cannot be looked at in isolation. It does not guarantee that you will be a winning player.
  3. definatley more effecetive at the smallstakes and higher... It can get you in a lot of headache spots postflop in the 3$r on stars if you always minraise pre because people just call whatever from any position and with any stacksize and etc etc... so in the lower limits i'd say the 2.5x is more ideal just as a general thought, u can obv get tables in the low rebuys where u sit with 6-7 regs...

    Reason: sloppy

  4. I like it at smaller stakes cash and once the blinds start to get rather large in a tourney. It's a good example of why a guy like Hellmuth beats on weak opponents more than strong ones. He plays a lot of small pots and keep the weaker players engaged while playing safe. Once the pots get larger the donkey isn't making the distinction that it's a more serious pot and he's facing a hand. He just assumes it's another pot. I find it smashes small games. You are going to get raised up like crazy against better players who catch on to your patterns.
  5. It really depends on the player. I mostly see min raises as very strong. Esspecially if someone minraises from the blinds.
  6. I like to min raise from time to time.

  7. Min-raising is good once the antes kick in. Before the antes I don't dig it.
  8. I almost never do it to be honest I almost never raise less than 2.5 the previous made bet. Unless I have pocket KK or AA and I want to get maximum value out of my hand. A min raise often induces a call or a re-raise from a good hand. I mostly don't play against a min raise with any ace or king (with the exeption of AK KK and AA of course and maybe suited face cards). I rather like to play suited connectors or small pairs against that to hit a set, flush or straight to win a big pot in case he has a big overpair.

I would of course proceed any flop with caution and make only calls that I have odds for.

  9. Against someone who is weak-tight yes. Do it when antes start to kick in.
