also to the OP, moneymaker won 2.5 million i believe at the wsop, not 1 million.
he was also a 30 year old accountant at the time which leads me to believe that:
1 - he already had a good paying job and was probably pretty financially stable at the time and
2 - he was not an idiot with money like stu ungar and knew to invest majority rather than just buying toys like OP obviously would -
I'm sure we could have an endless thread of lo-limits sitings but it won't satisfy OP. Played 2c/5c horse with Wasicka on FTP - asked him what he was doing...he said just having some fun while I've got a free hour to kill waiting on a friend. He proceeded to have rolled up aces in stud on me and take $1 That guy doesn't mess around at 5 cents! Think he's broke? Seriousy, can we rename the site "DramaFives" ? ;)

OP is an agitator. He got real answers and is still purposely obtuse. Throw in an insult or two and you have an agitator.
-
lolol.... to the OP - after reading your thread and a few of your responses, no offense but you sound incredibly incredibly dumb, or just have little common sense. i think everyone pretty much went into the many reasons why he is almost definatly not broke so not much more to say but, you really must not have been around long if you've never seen a pro playing micro stakes. funniest part is that OP actually thought that moneymaker was "grinding out" micro stakes NL games to make his living... el oh elz
-
OP... Did you ever think maybe it is not him playing, maybe his father, other family member, etc.? Maybe just messing around for fun...

sick life

Please explain ur answer................"this"????
just because hes a pokerstars pro it doesnt mean he will earn a ton of money???
they pay for his entry fees. if he fails too cash he earns fuck all. and i doubt earning $35 an hour which is the average going rate will turn him on. -
He seems to get put down a lot but i think chris is a better player than he is given credit for, he went really deep in the 1k scoop when i was watching him. That tourney is probably as tough as wsop considering a ton of people in that are either celebs or just very wealthy and want to get their faces on tv.

I'm not possitive on this but when moneymaker signed with ps it was for 1M/Year for 10 years but I could be wrong
-
op could be right. I saw moneymaker at the grocery store using coupons for lean pockets.
-
Seems OP (who has been added to my slowroll list for shits and giggles) is jealous Moneymaker can manage his money.
About tigertonkin I have been playing poker now for about two years. I started at university and although i managed to turn my first $200 into $2500 since then i have just become an ATM... I have the ability and knowledge to win but have a tendency when on a downswing to gamble 60-70% of my bankroll on one sng. Over the past couple of months i have learnt the "unwritten rules" of bankroll management but its one thing knowing what to do and another actually doing it. My dream isnt to win a wsop event but to infact just be able to poker as a job. I dont want to get lucky in poker i want to learn how to master the game and to be respected by other peers within poker but most of all be able to build a bankroll that would allow me to travel to dream places like monte carlo and the carribean. There is no one stopping me from achieving this but myself. The two most important words in poker......."Bankroll Management" -
didn't he final table a large WCOOP event 6 months ago?
-
this is just another post by someone that gets their jollies from watching other people fail. generally those are people that have failed in their own life (or so they feel) and feel better by watching someone else do the same. This person needs to see a shrink imo.

he sat at the bar the other night when i was bartending
-
If you read Moneymaker's book he was barely getting by when he won the seat in the WSOP. He almost sold it for $8K but the deal fell through. He admits he is an average to slightly above average player and has trouble with all the landmines who just want to bust Chris Moneymaker in MTTs.
-
he played a private 2r once, dropped 80 bucks then left

didn't read thread (sorry super lazy) but just to clear up that stars doesn't require but "kindly suggests" us all to play low limit tables like 0.5-0.10cents, etc (I just signed recently as team pro, brag included here, yay, etc., plz don't hate me, etc.!) and the people at the rly low limit tables are the nicest possible. It's something I've started doing since they suggested and it's been really fun + you'd be surprised at how much you can learn (if not in poker, at least about other people, which is always a positive thing).
As far as the Team Pro contract (which I obv won't go into details) but I will say this: it is very different then what you may expect like the 35/hr or whatever other sites offer, it's wayyy better. Stars rly takes care of their peeps cuz it's an investment both ways (long term vision etc)
Furthermore, Chris is here in Argentina playing LAPT Mar Del Plata, a real gentleman and super fun/chatty/nice as ever, very involved with his family and 3 daughters, a great father, and I assure you, far from broke. Carry on... (heart P5s) -
Thank you maridu for posting that.
Ive never wanted anyone to go broke in my life, why would I? whats the point?
Especially Moneymaker!!!
who to be honest made online poker become so successful. Hes someone I admire and Im so glad hes far from broke. I just wondered why he was at such low tables and the fact its so ppl can play with a pro then i admire him even more giving up his time.
My original post was one out of concern for someone who started the boom, but that some how got twisted but all the pocket fivers on here and now ive ended up having to defend myself. -
I am disappointed that more pros don't play a lower levels. I agree this good for the sites and good for poker. It's fun to watch them play for big money, but I don't think that brings in as much business as someone having the chance to play against them.

He is just cashing in on opportunity. If you asked an average poker player to name three poker players, you most likely will hear Brunson, Hellmuth and Moneymaker. The best way for him to stay on this list is to be accessible to the average player, or play low stakes poker. In truth, there aren't many other players who stand to benefit as much as these three from playing low stakes, either because other players can win more playing high stakes, or they do not have the name recognition with the average poker fan.
He may have changed, but in his book, he openly admits to being a degenerate gambler with no respect for money, despite being an accountant. But I can't imagine him having cash flow problems.
