  1. I just bought a 32" Sharp LED TV and was hoping to use it to play poker. The current resolution is 1280x768 pixels and it kinda sucks.

My labtop is about 5 years old and won't support a good resolution for the new screen.

Do I need a new graphics cards? Do TVs work well as monitors for the poker? Any help would be really appreciated.

  2. Well getting a new graphics card for a laptop is kind of hard, especially a laptop that old as it wont have any options for external graphics. If i were you id buy a new laptop quite frankly, make sure its one that supports direct HDMI output and such as that will give you the best quality, as for tv monitors for poker, sure its works pretty well, nothing beats a computer monitor at the same size in terms of resolutions and quality but ive played poker on 32, 42 and 46 inch tv's and been quite happy with it. :)

  3. Not playing here but just wanted to see what it would be like. 50" Samsung LED. Its crystal clear and can see all the way from the other side of the room.

IMO just get a new laptop because they are so cheap this days.

Do you resize the tables? If no, is your PC resolution higher than 1280x768?

EDIT: that setup is the nuts. That is exactly what I want for mine, but I hate resizing tables

  5. 1280x768 is typically the max res of 32" TV's unless you got a 1080p TV in which case you'd be able to go to 1920x1080. Are you sure your laptop is the limiting factor? I'm on a laptop from 6 years ago and it's able to output at 1920x1080. Check the specs of the TV.

The TV is a Sharp 32" LED Aquos. Says on a sticker on the front "see the detail of 1080p full HD"
    The product code is: LC32LS51OUT
    Google is screaming 1080p.

I have an idle graphics card from 5-6 years ago that has dual outputs. If it's my Dell Insiron 6400 from like 2005 that is shit, I can probably slap the graphics card into a cheap tower right?

  7. the resolution is 1980x1080. the tables are just tiled. played around of SNG's like this and it was tits.
  8. You shouldn't need a new video card.

I play on my laptop w/ a 32" lcd 1080p wall mounted as a dedicated pc monitor. Its close to proper res w/ only minimal resizing needed, but imo shop for a large 24-26" lcd computer monitor w/ 1920x1200 resolution as these are optimal. I used to play on a desktop w/ dual 20" non-widescreen 1600x1200 monitors and it was much better for poker. I'm putting my 32 incher in the bedroom and just ordered an Asus vw266h 26" lcd to replace my tv. Unless you plan to be far away from your screen, this is the way to go. This tv is hard on my eyes compared to a computer monitor.

  9. A TV is not a monitor and will not have the resolution you are looking for. Buy a 27" to 30" apple cinema display or a dell or something with 2560x1440 and you will be happier.
