  1. Yesterday I am playing in a 16K MTT on FullTilt. There are about 50 left, we are already in the money but that is not my concern at all, I want final table or nothing.

These are the situations I get myself into.

An aggressive player raises to 4k with 500-1k blinds from UTG. I am in 5 position and I have QQ. Now normally I would push all in for the remainder of my 11k, but my oppenent I know will call with Ace anything and I want to give myself the flop to fold. The seat next to me goes all in and has me covered, then the UTG calls. I know I have the best preflop hand, but I fold as I think I am up against like a 99 and AK and probably will be outdrawn. The flop comes KJ10, giving one a K and another a set, the rturn and river are blanks. So I would have been out. I am now down to 11K.

The next hand I have JJ, action folds to me and I lead out 4k of my 11k left (maybe I should have gone all in, but the BB was weak and wouldnt be able to call it). Two to my left goes all in over the top and another player calls all in. I have to fold now. They turn over A10 and KK. The KK holds and the other player is out.

Now I am left with roughly 7k, I steal a blind and then the blinds pass me and I have about 6K left on the button. An aggressive big stack raises to 3K (Im positive he has nothign). I have 66 and push over the top. He is pretty much priced in and turns over a K5 and spikes a K. Im out.

Now did I misplay any of those hands in your opinion? I am not a tight player and didnt have cards at all and got that far, but I should I have pushed with the QQ? Someone give me some advice on the hands, I am trying to figure out a way that I could have avoided it. Even though the 10 hit, ill take that race anyday, but didnt want to race two of them. Thanks.

  2. Analyzing what you wrote I really dont think that there is anything you could have done to better the situation in the hands you have described. I mean I dont know what else happened at the end of the tourney. You seemed to just get unlucky everytime you picked up a hand someone else woke up with an even bigger hand. With Q-Q i def would have gone over the top with the initial raise but when someone in front of you pushed it is a good fold, nothing you can do. Just like you said, the hand against the 10's anyday I agree, but racing 2?? no way. J-J is same situation, unfortunately 2 behind you picked up bigger hands, now I know it's better to go out swinging then blind off, but you have to be smart and realize when your beat..ands in both situations you were clearly beat. Just my 2 cents.

In my opinion the hand with QQ does not seem to follow this statement. You say you 'know' you have the best preflop hand. Why then would you not push if you think you have one player dominated and are racing with the other player? It seems to me that you were playing this hand to make the bubble and not the final table.

As for the other hands I think you just had some horrible luck. In one you have a player with a monster hand to the left of your near monster hand costing you more then 1/3 of your stack. In the other hand you got your last chips in as a heavy favorite and got drawn out on. Nothing you could really do about that.

  4. Lol, correct me if I am wrong, but are we saying that QQ v. 1010 is a race?
  5. i think he meant when 2 are all in in front....

And yes Q-Q vs 10-10 is a race. Only online. b/c online poker is rigged. And 10's flop a set 8/10 times.
  6. all in the first hand after the initial raise. If you just call it is to trap, so greedily shove your chips in when someone moves in after the raise and reraise! QQ is huge, especially low stacked. Lol@this:

but I fold as I think I am up against like a 99 and AK and probably will be outdrawn.

u've gotta be kidding me. Folding getting 231212121 to 1 with QQ there... you realize that if the hands were AA and 99, you would STILL have odds to call?

the hand with JJ, full tilt has big antes so there is like 2700 in the pot, so I would just open shove.

Ironically, the 66 is the most marginal of all of your plays, yet is the only one that you don't seem to secondguess.

Get out of the weak-tight mentality. Who cares if you might be behind? You need to gamble to win, so gamble and don't worry about it. Also, QQ in the first spot is not a gamble. A hand that good is a miracle.

    out now...

  7. No. But i knew the guy had AK, so that is a race. I just didnt want to get involved in a pot that big, I had been running terrible all day and had a feeling i was doomed... I know you cant play like that but I was on one of the worst luck streaks of my life in that last hour on the SNG tables.

  8. I wasnt in a weak mentatility at all, I had pushed in with 56, q7, and 48 already in the tournament. I am not tight at all, but I also dont want to be up against 2 other people with big hands. But still, the 66 I guess I could have folded, but with that low stacked and so much equity in the pot, there is no reason since I knew I wasnt dominated. I guess, i just got in bad situations. The only real difference maybe as teh QQ in my opinion, I probvably played that wrong in the situation.

  9. If you are replying to my post you need to reread it.

  10. I agree with you that the 66 was correct. However, I think actionjeff is right; the QQ and JJ hands were both pretty easy shoves at the first opportunity.

I think if you are gonna cold call with the Queens, you cannot possibly fold because someone shoved behind. You have the third best pocket pair in hold'em vs a big EP raise and are getting something like 4 to 1 on the call.
  11. I read the hand about QQ wanting to wait till after flop cause he'll call with any ace..I think you need to push for that reason...

you just call and flop comes

75J is the board..he has a9..he's probably tossing it (dont know the player though) and you're not making as much as you would if you pushed pf and he called with ace-rag

if you push pre and he calls with something like a8, a9, etc..you're a significant favorite when the money goes in, and thats all you can ask for..

sorry, didnt read the rest of the post..just wanted to comment on that hand
  12. hey:

    I will just say this:

You have to stop playing scared. You make the best decision
you can based on all the available information and then you
    have to say "f results".

Push fearlessly with your good hands when you have to and
stop being afraid of running into monsters or getting drawn
out on, and do it when you still have enough of a stack to put
    your opponents to the test.

    Happy and Healthy New Year.
