I was playing a tourney at my local casino recently when the following happened - dont play much live but dont recall seeing thison the few occasions Ive played in Vegas. Guy called my bet on the river and flipped his hand over which beat me so I mucked, however the rest of the table asked the dealer to show my hand which he did. When I said that I had the right to muck they all shouted me down and said it was a showdown so you have to show. I dont think this is correct, am I wrong??
Surely even if he calls and doesnt turn over his hand I can either flip over my hand for a showdown or choose to muck . -
your wrong, especially in tourney, any called hand can be asked to be shown. Its to prevent collusion or chip dumping

If he's the one that bet the river then this seems like ungodly bad ettiquite.
