  3. It's not about chip dumping, but it's more about a good player who has an advantage over the field increasing that advantage by having 2 (or more) entries into the event. In an individual event - a single entry still is subject to variance. But if you have multiple entries, it lowers your variance. That player has a better chance of advancing to a final table - which is where the real money is.

As far as "how" a player can multiaccount? Well - it's rather easy and there are several ways to do it. Here is a simple way to do this which kind of hides the same IP issue.

    1. Have someone else at the same address open an account (say a brother).
    2. Play on both accounts.

Pretty easy, isn't it? Nothing can be done really - both you and "your brother" certainly have a right to play. And because you live at the same address, playing off the same IP address is OK.

But here is where the sites need to get smarter in identifying these types of situations.

    1. When players take shots - normally play low or midstake event, then all of a sudden they are playing the highest level events (and doing it without having gotten a big score or getting in via satellites). Where did this money come from? Seems like the logic for figuring this out is fairly simple.

    2. Playing style. This is a little more difficult for sites to identify. But people at lower levels usually don't 3 or 4 bet on a regular basis (and certainly don't do it with air). So compare the playing style of the brother when they were playing lower levels, and when they play in the higher level. Chances are that if the higher level game play is more aggressive - they are not the same person.

One other MA'er tool is the air card. If they "borrow" someone's account who doesn't live with them, they can operate off an air card. This hides that one person is playing on two accounts from the same location.

Obviously the sites are never going to tell us how they identify these types of cheaters. Doing so only provides MA'ers with what not to do.

IMO - I think that the sites should publish the name (screen name and real name, city and state) of anyone they find cheating. This way - we don't accidentally associate with cheaters and put our own accounts at risk.
