isn't staking in the same group as multi- accounting?
Hypothetically a player, lets call him JJ for arguments sake, trains 10 players and fronts a sunday million buy-in to all.
Would you consider this a legit form of multi-accounting, or as long as none of said players "soft played" each other.
And how much would multi-accounting actually increase your chances of winning something like the sunday mill? -
lol @ And how much would multi-accounting actually increase your chances of winning something like the sunday mill?
seriously tho just 1 extra acct obv increases your expectancy for that tournament so 10 would be sick, but staking isnt newhere close to the same as multiaccounting so you must not have a firm understanding of one of the two terms to confuse the two. -
I can see your point, but using your example, even if JJ trains 10 players and stakes them all in the Sunday Mill, that doesn't come close to multi-accounting.
Each person that JJ stakes has an agreement with JJ to pay a certain percentage of their winnings back to him. It wouldn't make any sense for collusion here since each person stands to lose something if they collude, chip dump, etc.
Multi-accounting would increase odds for an individual player of taking down a tourney greatly (let alone having 10 players). Of course, that's if the same person was playing all 10 (which is obviously illegal).
In this scenario, the person that stands to benefit the most from this would be JJ since he's got 10 chances of sharing a prize amount (which is the whole point of staking other people). They work hard and cash to make money for their backer. Backers just ship....must be nice to be loaded...lol. -
Yeah you are basically saying that pokerxfactor makes bax and sheets multi-accounting. It really doesn't make a lot of sense. You can tell someone how to play but there are a million different ways to play and I doubt even if JJ taught them they would play just like him. Michael Jordan can teach me how to play basketball but I aint Jordan son.

Thank you, well put. :)

jesus christ Op, go find a rope!
lol so live poker is multi accounting, because there are people that put a alot of people in tournaments, now GFY, GTFO, ETC -
When did PXF start giving buy-ins?
oh they didn't?
guess thats not what I'm basically saying then.
I do understand where your coming from.
And taking over for one of your stakees, would that be legit as long as you hadn't played in the tournament yourself? -
Yea, guess i should probually just kill myself, or i could troll poker forums to make miserable comments.
-
the only way that this would be considered multi accounting is if he gave them basic instruction, and the proceeded to watch and told them what to do in many of the tough situations... where in essence he is playing..
strictly showing someone what you have learned and then backing them with a staking agreememnt is legit... -
no dude, come on, taking over for them is ghosting...frowned up in the poker community.
You just said he trained them. If he plays for all of them after 1 hour then it's no bueno but if any pro wanted to Teach me AND PAY for my buy ins I would not only say that is ok but I'd be the FIRST to sign up.
OBV if shady stuff went on that's one thing but just to train and stake, that's ok, in fact I think that's smart business. -
well these staking and multiaccounting issues get fuckin old, use the search tool, and post in one of those!
-
i know it's frowed upon, but whats frowed upon and whats legal are usually 2 differnt things.
-
Yea, sorry again geuss i should stop forcing you to make you insightfull replies.

Just to clarify:
Multi-accounting is a single person playing with multiple SN's on the same poker site.
Example above is not considered multi-accounting.
I guess you can compare stakers to horse owners: A person can own multiple horses, have multiple horses in the same race and train each jockey to race each horse.
A multi-accounter would be the one riding all 3 horses at the same time in the same race. LOL. -
Taking over for one of your stakees...that is not legit even if the backer hadn't played in the tournament. Its called ghosting or shadowing (multiple players playing on the same account) and is definitely frowned upon within the poker circles and communities.

isint that what happend with Annette in WCOOP?
-
If this were the case, the person who invented and first explained the game of NLHE to people would be in some deep shit... Dude's responsible for some serious multi-accounting... =/
-
Stop me if I'm wrong (all other posters with more knowledge feel free to disagree with me), but I think Ghosting and Shadowing are NOT legal practices, just very hard to prove through the internet.
This is more of an honor system issue online. In live poker, its the equivalent of me taking my cards to a railer and asking for advice. Even though the railer doesn't know the other people's hands, this is still not legal in live poker tournaments.
IE: 2005 WSOP (if anyone remembers): Tiffany Williamson vs. Shahn Shekan (sp.). Shakan had AA, Williamson had A-K. After Williamson re-raised, Shekan moved all in. Williamson got put on the clock and at one point, started walking away from the table. Shekan immediately objected to that and told the tournament director to have her return to the table. This was b/c someone could have given her advice on the hand. -
Don't know Annette so i couldn't tell ya.
-
yea, the story goes someone else was playing during her FT of WCOOP main event, yet theres no BAN ANNETTE threads I dont know if it's jealousy or what but to request Sorel be banned for what happened is insane, if you can prove a win he has on his ranking stats was trough cheating remove it, everyone wants to call for Sorels head, but doesn't think it was fair to remove Andys rankings, which if he is underage all tourny results would be void.
-
She didnt play at all that tourney, completely different. She was in Aruba i think and didnt enter the tourney.A friend played on her account from start to finish.
-
What JJ does just like what Bax and Sheets do is definatly legal multi-accounting. . It all depends on how you look at it. I mean how many players do these crews have in the tourneys? And you mean to tell me that when one of their crew is deep and playing for a lot of money that they are not in some way advising? I find that hard to believe..
There is just so much money out there to be had that people are going to use any edge legal or illegal ethical or unethical they can do get it. -
Annette didnt play the tournament!!!!! it was one of her friends!!
-
Its certainly a viable scenario, but if that is indeed what is going on, then you may as well ban online poker altogether. None of what you said above is legal Live.
What you just said basically called every person that stakes another player a cheater. True or not, that a pretty bold statement. Would all backers risk doing something illegal just to gain an edge? Doesn't make sense from a business perspective. -
This type of situation is exactly why the poker sites suggest not giving your account information (SN and PW) to anyone.
