  1. Ok, say I plan on 16-screening a mix of 5-10 and 10-20 limit holdem (typically 8screens of each)...

My buyin for 5-10 is $200, and for 10-20 it is $400.

Now I've heard for cash games that a conservative, general rule of thumb is to have 30 buyins in your BR for whatever game you are playing (this might be for NL only though, not sure). Following this 30buyin rule, I would need $6k for every one screen of 5-10, and $12k for every one screen of 10-20.

Assuming i'm playing 8screens of each, does this mean that I would need $144k to be properly rolled for this particular grind??? Seems like a lot; I feel like I could do this grind and stay in the games perpetually with less than half that BR (maybe around 60k). What do you guys think?

Also, for limit holdem grinders, what kind of downswings are typical at these stakes (5-10 and 10-20)? And what are some of the largest downswings you've ever heard of, or experienced?

    Question CLIFF NOTES:
-Is 30buyins a correct amount for a bankroll for playing limit holdem?
-How large does my BR have to be to 16screen a mix of 5-10 and 10-20 limit holdem, while ensuring myself that I can perpetually stay in these games as a slightly winning to breakeven player?
-What type of downswings are typical at the aforementioned stakes, and what are the largest downswings you've either had or heard of?
  2. I've always heard about 300 BB (big bets) for LHE. That's $3k for 5/10 and $6K for 10/20. But I think you need at least twice that for online where the play is better. Play around with this variance simulator: http://www.evplusplus.com/poker_tool...nce_simulator/
