Multi-tabling- When your playing at the top level say $100 + MTTS how much do you think each table added affects your ability, 3%, 5%, 10%?
Put another way, how much of a better player are you playing say 2 tables compared to 10+?
Where and how do you draw the line? -
I can't comment on $100+ plus MTTs ($33 - $75s I can comment). I feel it definitely makes a difference, but is impossible for me to put a % figure on. It's not through misclicking or anything like that, I just find myself rushing some decisions at times. On the other hand, If I am playing less than four tables I find myself getting bored and sometimes making stupid plays.

4.75-5%.
lol ya what he said, I somtimes aviod getting too short when playin less tables and end up going allin in spots where I could have waited. -
I was gonna ask this question myself since I have this problem. If I'm playing fewer tables I seem to make too many plays and try building big stacks too quickly. When I'm playing more tables (above 4) I just end up being on autopilot not making enough reads on opponents or paying enough attention. How do you guys find that balance or is it just a basic practice makes perfect type of thing where I need to add more tables as the results get better. I'd lke to hear how you guys do it.

It depends on what you can comfortably handle, but honostly for me I have played full schedules, and played very select few tournaments at a time and just fully focused on them and I have done better when I play less tables and focus. I also notice a lot more things at the table when im paying attention to it and would play a little different depending on what ive seen my opponents do that I would probably have missed had I not been payin attention, other than relying just solely on HUD. only thing you have to combat with playing fewer tables is boredom, and actually staying focused to play your best.

exactly this

I used to play low/mid stakes on a few tables and micro stakes on a few solely so I could spew and get bad play out of my system on the baby tables and play relatively TAG on the low/med's.
I'm no expert on MTing, I generally struggle with 7-8+ -
up to six I feel I can play at maybe 90% of my ability but if I'm deep in one the focus is definitely shifted to that one to the detriment of others. 7-10 I can still do comfortably but I'm botting it a lot more. Anything over 10 and I start to get a little overwhelmed. And this is for middy stakes. No experience with the nose bleeds.

I definitely feel like 5-6 is an optimal amount for me. Its the perfect balance between being able to note and remember certain key things about players at the table and being able to manage my stacks efficiently. If I have not enough tables, as someone mentioned prior I get bored and do stupid things. With too many tables, sometimes Ill find myself with like 5-6 bbs wondering how the hell this happened.

i like to start with as many mtts as i can handle, about 20
after some hours im in a coupple left (i hope) so i can concentrate and make a deep run in those. -
For me its just a balancing act.

If I have to many; I play too tight and nitty, but with to few; I find myself 3betting to much, making stupid all-in plays or browsing the internet.
Personally my sweet spot is about 4 MTT's at a time. -
multitabling not a whole lot....internet+aim a lot, lot more.

Theres obviously a point where your burning money, because you cant handle the number of tables your playing.
From what Ive read in the forums, gboro doesnt play too many tables, but has been very successful to date maybe because hes playing optimally all the time?
Dont know how many tables most of the ranked guys play, would be interesting to know.
I understand the numbers game, but maybe most players would do better with a few less tables and making better decisions? -
up to 12 i can play pretty comfortably and feel like i'm playing close to my A game. up to 16-18 is manageable, 18-22 I can get by but Im def not playing my anywhere near close to my A game. Thing is at 20 even tho I know I'm playing worse I'm def not that much worse that it's better to play less and make less money. i guess it depends what games you are dropping off and how proffitable you are in them. It's not just mistakes, at some stage i'll stop doing things like overlimping suited connectors and other decisions where you have to see flops cause the hands take so much time and can be tricky to play if you flop a medium strength hand. you also aren't noticing player tendancies. these days i'm trying to play a few less and just be smart with game selection so that I can keep my win rate high.
oh, and don't forget multi tabling has some benefits too. for me it keeps me focussed, if i'm playing 6 or less and i'm not deep in anything i get real bored. and I also tilt a lot more when I have less games going. when you have heaps going you just don't have time to tilt so in some ways playing more tables can you play better, it's just finding the right balance. for me 10-14 is about perfect. -
It really depends how deep in the tournaments I am, and my mood/concentration. Over about 16 tables though and I think my game starts to get a bit too autopilot.
