  1. I've identified one of my biggest leaks - making a bad play. Not that I make a lot of bad plays or something, but when I do it really tilts me.

I think most people probably tilt from bad beats, but not me. I can get bad beat all day long and it doesnt bother me; that just means I got my money in ahead and I'm playing well - those are the breaks. But when I make a bad call or a bad read it can be the beginning of a meltdown for me. I just get so fired up and can't stop thinking about the hand. I can't just take some time and cool off either bc I'm almost always playing at least 6 tables, so tilting can be pretty devastating.

Does anyone else have this problem, or anyone have some tips for helping me to keep a clear head after making a bad play? I would be a much better poker player if I could learn to shrug it off the same way I shrug off bad beats.

  2. Just my two cents...I will sometimes (in the situation you described) say, "Wait, I'm not so sure that was a bad play," and copy the hand history for that hand. Paste it on a doc, and put it aside to look at later. I think this helps in two ways. One, you put off being so upset about it, and another is when you analyze it later, you can write down or remember things you want to look for the next time you encounter that situation. The thing is, sometimes, some of the plays you look at later are not as bad as you think. Even crying calls are sometimes not as bad as you think when you later look at the range your opponent could be on, what odds you're getting, your stack, their stack, where you're at in the tourney, and so on. Plus, later on you actually get to consider all those things, whereas when you think about it after it happened, and you're multi-tabling, you're probably only considering the result. Also, if you have this hand copied down, you can post it in a forum, and get feedback (use 2+2 for this as well as P5s for as much feedback as you can get).
  3. thanks, that is a good idea
