Well as of 11:48 AM today, I busted out of stars. I still have money on bodog and UB, but the majority of my time was spent on Stars, so I'm effectively busto.
So disappointing, I was hoping to build up my BR to eventually be able to sustain myself and forego having to get a job when I graduate. Sigh...work force FTW.
So, I'm having to redeposit $50 and try to start back on the grind.
Dammit.
Anyone have a good busto story? -
No good ones I doubt. I built a decent 4000 tourney roll. Got pissed after I busted in a $5 45 man. And proceeded to play 3000 1.05 Hu matches. After losing all of those consecutively I took the rest out and bought the cheapest hookers and blow money could find...
Man I wish I still had my roll.
Based on a true story, some details were dramatically enhanced for your viewing pleasure. -
The first time I ever grinded 50 into 1,000 I decided to sit at 5/10 nl with the whole roll. Paul wolfe is to my left. I am on the button with A A, make it 30 to go, wolfe calls and the BB calls. Flop is 4 7 8 two hearts. Wolfe bets 105, BB calls 105 and I donk it all in for like 800 or so on top. Wolfe immediatley calls and BB folds he turns over 5 6...roll gone.
Next time I grinded up to 2k from 50. BR management was going just fine, then I had a dream. So I sit back down at 5/10 nl and lose my first buy in. I was steaming so bad at this point so I reloded. It folds around to me in the SB I look down at a monster..Q 8 os. Obviously I am all in, (that $10 BB is looking really nice), auto call 88, he holds. Busto.
The one thing I can tell you is I have experienced going busto multiple times after putting in long hours to get to where I was at. This first hand experience has taught me that BR management is the most important part of this game. I look at it like a long race, sprinting will get you an early lead, but if you stay on pace you slowly pass the sprinters by. -
LOL pokfyace, my real experience was almost identical to yours.

Im on one of those rolls now.... Recently in the last 5 days turned 25$ on stars to 1,200$. Came in second in back to back 4$ 180 man sit n go's, won a double shoot out for the sunday million, won 8 straight smaller sit n goes... and have been crushing low limit cash game... This is about my 10th time turning a 25-100$ deposit to over 1k..... in the past Id either have to withdraw for bills or such, or also have had the busto NL situation occur a few times... Hopefully Ive taken the turn for good and have learned a hard lesson.... Imma just stick to low limit cash and 1-5$ MTT's.... its never fun to grind for a few days on end playing your A game, to just donk it off playing above your level.... good luck

I had about a $9K roll at one point and quit my job (with the intent to look for a new one after I finished my last class and got my degree at a community college). Well 3 month go by and I get my associates degree and decided to just take it easy for the summer and keep playing poker for awhile. Another 4 months go by of playing poker pretty much everyday and I eventually got board and would only play a few hours a week. I also had a really bad tilt day and lost like 2K and took a month off. I was basically burning thru money and had no other income and not playing poker. I cashed out $2300 a couple weeks ago once my bank account hit $0 to pay all my bills, rent, car payment and have spending money which left me with a $200 bankroll. I actually just started training at eBay/PayPal on Monday (yes 2 days ago) after not having a job for 7 months so we'll see how that goes. My current BR is $800, and I just plan on playing HU Omaha sngs so wish me luck.
