1500 in starting chips blinds are at 15-30
I just won 2 all in hands and I have been stealing so my stack is at around 6.5k
Im utg and I limp with 5-4o next girl raises to 250 6 players call...so I call
flop comes 4-2-2
knowing Im either behind to the over pair...or nothing I bet out 600 Original raiser pushes all in for 1200
it folds and I decide to call
either way she has 66
turn is 3 river is A
even tho I won did I play it bad?
She made the comment before I called her all in...if your hitting that board you shouldnt of been in this hand
but with the pot odds and my stack...I was getting more than 5-1 even if she is over paired she is still less than a 5-1 fav over me...so its worth it to make the call and see flop
right? -
Yeah, pretty bad to limp 45o utg in ANY circumstance.
-
I have played in some of these shitshows and this is the typical play there.
that is fucking brutal from start to finish.
fold pre. if you want to limp UTG with 45 in this situation you should walk outside and take up smoking until the blinds matter. fold the hand pre.
again though, if you limp. fold to the raise, goddamn.....then dont lead at the flop when you think they have an overpair....they are going to fold here?
wow. wow. wow.
<3 I Blade U -
i say you shouldnt have limped first place
BUT once your in the pot and she raised and 6 players call you cant really fold any two -
She priced you in with only raising 9x bb pre.
-
it does not matter what 2 cards I had here
I had command of the table and I have not limped in any pot yet
I was planning to fold to any raise since my table has been tight but I would not of minded seeing a flop
now when every single person calls this raise and its not even 5% of my chips to call...plus im getting 5-1 the math says call
now when I put out the bet on the flop if they have 55-10 10 they should be putting me on an overpair here which I tried to play and they would fold...either way I still have top pair on flop...so if they do have AK or broadway cards I am ahead...so I bet out now when she came over the top obv I have to call if she indeed does have ak or high cards -
im only 20

This is the most retarded analysis of a hand I have ever read in my entire life, bar none.
-
ok ok ok i got the point
it was a bad play and I got lucky and won the pot
wont do again -
very very bad play. very very lucky. very very awful break down of the hand and "your table"
-
Ummmmmmmmm....Never mind.

would u like me to go get the imaginary HH out of my ass and post it?
shut the fuck up -
i would never play poker again if u think a play like this is even close to smart....
you say the table is tight then call a raise and stack off on a 422 flop with 6 people taking the flop
just wow...amazing how terrible some people can play -
So I am utg+2 in my tourney and my friends cousin is 9 years old, so I elect to limp the 93o, shooting for that 9 considering im a 72% favorite over broadway cards since those hit. 10 other people limp, and some other random person from another table comes over and raises to 5.4 million chips. I elect to call, since I've got that feeling about the 9 last time, and if he has an overpair and my 9 hits im in good shape. The flop comes down 385, and I'm like 104.8% sure he has A9, so I lead out for 6.2 million chips, he only has .2 million chips behind if he calls, which I'm hoping he will if he has A9 cuz im ahead and I know that. He pushes in like a donkey and i instacall, he shows QQ and i laugh at him as i hit running 3s for quads. Did I play this wrong, or I am jsut the best in the world?

"I was getting more than 5-1 even if she is over paired she is still less than a 5-1 fav over me...so its worth it to make the call and see flop"
You should be willing to recognize that you are quite likely beat preflop here. Additionally, you have to be willing to lay down a marginal holding in this circumstance. With 6 players calling behind I don't see how your hand could be the best here. Overall, fold preflop. If you are priced in, call, but be prepared to fold on a lot of boards unless you hit big. -
I have never laughed harder at one PD post ever. There are three gems in here, maybe four.

250 game 25 dollar rake they get ya good

Since no one has tackled this one...
"She made the comment before I called her all in...if your hitting that board you shouldnt of been in this hand"
LMAO, what was she beating? 55, 33, or any non-paired hole-cards not having a 2 and that is it. With six seeing the flop it was ridiculous for her to think she was ahead and incredible that she probably was (I guess someone coulda folded 77 or 88 but I doubt it). -
??? Dont get defensive and try to justify your play when you ask if you played bad or not. Save it for your buddies on the car ride home.

Actually a very interesting hand, IMO. This is my long response:
I'm in the minority here. Everyone else in this thread thinks this is a joke hand, etc. I disagree with the ABC responders here and think you played this one okay, only a little out of line and perhaps not at all depending on your image at the table and the image you were trying to set up.
Preflop: It is not wrong to sometimes play a hand like 54 here. It is obviously better if it is suited, but the suitedness only adds a little value. The purpose of playing here is to mix it up, especially if the big pots you won earlier were with solid hands. I prefer a raise preflop (UTG is the new button), though depending on table dynamics a limp isn't wrong. So...54o UTG with your stack...90% fold, 7% raise, 3% limp. Then when it is raised and you are getting almost 8-1 (1750ish-220) to call then your call is correct as you are playing this hand to hit big in a multiway pot, and that's exactly what has developed.
Flop: I don't know if you were first or second to act, as you didn't say if the blinds were in the hand, but any way you are in EP with a wide range of hands behind you. I only like your lead if all of those hands had a stack of about the pot size (2000ish) or less. If any of them have big stacks with you then I think checking is much safer, that way if there is a bet-raise-reraise type sequence you can get away with confidence. 4-2-2 is a mediocre flop for you, obviously you have a hand now, but it is not the two pair/straight/set situation you were hoping for here. Your bet here into the preflop raiser is only getting called by better hands, but at the same time you don't want to give any free cards to the multitudes of overcards. So...if biggest stack in pot with you is <2000 then bet/call, if biggest stack in pot is >2000 then probably check and re-evaluate, unless said big stack is a nit, then a bet may still be okay.
Okay, flame away all you ABC nits, I think there is a lot more to this hand then any of you gave thought to. -
Wrong.
