  1. I'm having a problem with the poker sites that are quickly bailing out on their U.S. players.

Any operation that handles the amount of money as these sites should have a legal person on staff and/or access to good legal advice to decipher the upcoming law. On our shores the interpretation for poker is unclear. So what do they know that we don't?

By their rash actions, these sites are stating that they DO consider playing poker as gambling. That is surprising and unfortunate, since it is that very determination that has NOT clearly been decided and we are using against inclusion in antigambling laws. Thus, these sites are hurting our cause.

As long as it was a simple process to deposit funds, they didn't care whether it was legal or not for U.S. players to play...until now. I truly don't get what has them running scared now. Someone help me here.

However, any site that bails on me now, ESPECIALLY, before the actually signing AND without explaining how this law makes them a difference, will not have me as a customer when it's all sorted out.

So thank you, you spineless sites that welcomed my patronage, did nothing to fight this beforehand, and are not sending me emails saying 'Sorry, hope to have you back in the future.'

    I DON'T THINK SO!!!
  2. "By their rash actions, these sites are stating that they DO consider playing poker as gambling."

what does this have to do with anything? the law considers poker gambling so what does it matter what the sites think?

the sites are protecting themselves and employess from being arrested if theya re ever in the US.
  3. You need to relax.

First of all, the poker sites are not scared. What can the US do to them? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

As far as the poker sites fighting it....do you really think the US government is going to listen to offshore "illegal" poker rooms? Hah, I don't think so.

And while I don't favor any sites excluding US players, if you want to get right down to it, it HELPS our cause. It shows that the "illegal poker rooms" are actually respectable companies who encourage their customers to obey the laws of their country; that gives it a better chance of changing the law, rather can saying "Fuck of US government, we're going to do this if we want to, and you can't stop us". That reinforces the unethical, illegal views that some people have.

  4. As I said, that particular line has to do with the fact that these sites are further hurting the U.S. fight on interpreting poker.

What the sites (businesses) think is important. If they didn't think this law affected them they would have ignored it or opposed it. The legality of online gaming for one, and poker for two has been a questionable, gray area for some years now. This bill/law is just as gray.

Those arrests happened before the Port Security Act hijacking...so if arrest was their concern why are they just closing accounts now?

  6. *Sigh* Is it possible to have a respectable, high-quality debate or discussion here?

I am quite relaxed thank you and no need for starting your comment off in that way.
