  1. My banroll is about 25$ I was wondering wat table to play at to grind my bankroll higher I was thinking of 1.2 sng's until I can move to 3.4, but for cash should i play the lowest stake limit? I need some help with what stepping stones to take
  2. With a roll of 25 bucks your better off staying away from any cash table. Unless ofcourse that is your game. As far as an MTT or STT you proboly want to stick to the $5 sng and cross your fingers. It can be done with the money you have, but i would realisticly consider the 10 buy-in rule for whatever limit you play at.

This basically means that you have 10 buy-ins for the limit you are playing. If i play $5 sng's i want to have a $50 roll; And also a 3 buy-in rule such as if i lose three buy-ins in a row i am done for the day.
  3. dude Im doing the same thing rigt now. $5 SNG's are WAY too high right now. I would 2 table the 1.75 45 mans on stars until u build that roll up to $100 or so, then start to move up. In the past I tried playing the $5 SNG's with a $50 BR, and the fact of the matter is no matter how good you are, variance will break you eventually. If you want to grind your way up, use Jesus Ferguson's 5% rule (never play with more than 5% of your BR at one time), which is $1.25 for you, and stick to that.

  4. I recently did this and was playing the $3.25 6-max turbos, the play there is terrible and variance won't be as big of a deal in them. Plus first pays about the same as the $1.25 45 mans and you only have to beat out 5 player's instead of 44. If you ask me this is the way to go for your BR.
  5. Stay away from the 5 dollar sngs.. If you prove to your self you can win consistently and get to 40 dollars, then I would try it.. Big difference in competition between 1-3 dollar sngs and 5 dollar ones
  6. There is a big competition difference? There are levels of donks now?! Crap! Where does it end?!
  7. I would play the 1.20 45 man non turbo sngs on stars. Once u get to about fifty or sixty bux, I would start playing cash games. IE .01/.02 nl, I would sit with three bux on each table. Also learning how to multi table is a must imo. Esp if you dont have a ton of money to work with.
  8. You can play the lowest limit cash game comfortably.
  9. With a bankroll of 25$ you're best bet is to get a job. Don't look at poker as a source of income when you're entire bankroll is 4 hours at a minimum wage job. It should be entertainment for you, and if you wish to improve, you should save up at least 200$ to start for a bankroll. If it takes some time to save up that amount of money, good! Use that time to learn as much as you can by reading books and internet sources. There are much better sources for information about how to play poker than pocket fives. Twoplustwo.com is defintely one of the best, but the site kinda sucks. Cardrunners is very very good, but it's a subscription service(costs money).
  10. I have grinded 25 to 1200 or so 4 times on 3 different sites. My advice is simply do not play until you read Small Stakes Holdem by Miller, Sklansky and Malmuth. After you read that , then play .05\.10 limit until you get to 50.00. Do not multitable!!! just play one table abc poker. At 50.00 move up to .25\.50. {At this level I was able to book alot of 50.00 a day wins} If you ever lose half your buy in at any table quit. And if you double up at any table quit. If you want to continue playing when you double up move to another table repeat process until you double up again or or lose half you buy in. {buyin being 10x the big blind} When I got to 500.00 thats when I started taking shots at 2\4 , 3\6 and 5\10. I did not play 1\2 very much because for whatever reason I never did well and would always just drop back to .25\50 or .50\1.00.. At the higher limits always buy in for the min and watch the table before you even play.... I cashed out when i hit 1200 all the time and left 200 to play......Just start the process over ... I know this post sucks but im fallling asleep.............Just dont play NL until you got a monster roll and lots of guts,,,, ONE MISTAKE in NL and your in trouble... limit mistakes only cost you so much not all of your table stake......GL
  11. One more thing if you are just starting,,,,Play "play money" on stars . For whatever reason the people who play the high limit play money tables take the game somewhat seriously and its excellent practice. Flame away at that one gents..............
  12. I've always withdrawn in the past and I'm still ahead, but I find that lately I tend to blow what I have left online and have to redeposit from the winnings I've drawn out.

So far this year I've done this over and over...I had a good year last year and have winnings to redeposit from...but, I've decided that I'm going to STOP having such poor bankroll management and really try to build it back up, so I can start withdrawing again and not keep up this bad pattern of redepositing. I really don't have any interest in having a big bankroll online, just don't want to have to keep redepositing, as those epassporte fees start adding up after awhile.

Anyway, I put $50 on PS tonight and thought I'd play the $3+ 10 man turbos...I should have known better, busted out in 5th...for some reason I don't do well in the 6,9 or l0 man sngs. In the past I always did well with the $6.50 l8 man sngs that pay top 4. Then I'd get $50 into $300 from the l8 man sngs and start playing cash games, etc...then before I knew it I would blow my bankroll again.

So after busting out 5th in the first sng tonight I decided even though I only had $46+ left I'd do a $6.50 l8 man and got lst...so now I've got $80+

Sorry to ramble on, but would you continue just playing the $6.50 18 man sngs, or drop down and play the lower buy in 18 man sngs?

I normally just play one table at a time. I have a home based business and get interrupted by telephone calls alot. I know that's not the best way to play poker, but unfortunately that's the only way I can have time to play...multi-task.

I guess I'm wanting to know if I should continue with the $6.50 18 man tourns...or drop down. And how much should I leave online once I start getting my bankroll built up to continue playing the $6.50's...I normally don't like leaving more than $200.

    Thanks in advance.
  13. If I where you I would play the $1.20 9player sng's

there an article in the straegy archives by adam on single table sng's read it.
