  1. Im a new memeber even though im here quite often reading alot of the post. I have a problem and thought maybe some of you guys would be able to help me out somehow or know anything. A couple of days ago I went to the bank to get some money and they started asking me questions on where it is all coming from blah blah blah. Anyhow they froze my bank account to do an ivestigation. I have talked to them numerous times now and really haven't got any good info on whats gonna happen. I was wondering are they able to keep all my money or will I eventually get it back and just no be able to do business with them anymore. Any help would be great especially if you work in a bank and know alittle more info.
  2. way to many pieces of this puzzle missing....not sure of enough of the situation to answer you
  3. Well all the money is obv poker money. They froze my account to do an investigation on where it is excatly coming from since the deposits say MY NAME FIRPAY.COM(which I already told them it's from online poker). I have spoke to the branch manager and numerous customer care people over the phone and havent really gotten any solid info on whats gonna happen. MY question is does anyone know are they able to keep my funds since online gambling is illegal. Or will I eventually get it back and they will notify who ever they might have to let them now. Not sure excatly what your asking me but please feel free to ask me any other questions you might have.

  6. What bank?
  7. Look at the rules for your bank account. Put on a suit. Go in and ask to speak with the bank manager. Explain that while you realize they have the right, per your agreement and by their government responsiblity, to investigate anything they view as suspicious.

That being said, demand to know what they think is suspicious, etc. Threaten them with legal action for harassing you.
  8. firepay only allows 5k deposits....what madtiger said, and refrain from telling them it is "poker money"

  9. Read up on the Bank Secrecy Act. Don' know if they are allowed to feeze your account, but they will report to the Govt. any suspicious activity. This is usually caused by deposits of more than 10k, or unusual withdrawals and deposits.
  10. Back in the "old" days (ie Pre-Patriot Freedom Act) banks were only required to report CASH transactions of 10K or more.

Since the Patriot Act, banks are allowed to report any suspicous behaviour, but I've never heard of them being allowed or able to "freeze" an account. However, since they've done it, I would have to assume that they have the right to do so, otherwise they wouldn't have done it due to possible reprecussions.

To this date I have not heard of any person's account being confiscated due to the money coming from online poker, that would certainly make national news due to the nations obsession with online poker.

I think if you cooperate with the bank and simply let them do their investigation, you'll be cleared and your account will be unfrozen.
  11. Do most online pros have checks mailed to them as opposed to doing EFT to prevent this problem?
  12. Sure hope you have been paying taxes on your winnings, otherwise you could be in a world of hurt.
  13. I have checks come and eft's as well and I cash the checks at a check cashing place where they don't card me because its my local convienence store and I'm a good customer. They know it's good and that's all they care about so they deposit it into their banking acct and it's never traced back to me and has none of my info on it ..i.e. dl # and acct # ...I do however file as a pokerr player so I eft the amount I am willing to claim.
  14. No offense, but do you have a foreign sounding name?
  15. They're prolly jus gonna investigate on where it came from and have u pay taxes on it
