Hello all,
Have always enjoyed all the posts here in the forums and have managed to learn quite a bit and without saying, quite a few here do very well in all the MTT tournies.
So, here is my situation. I am a in the building process of a bankroll and realize that the most I should risk on MTT's is $5 or $10 buy-in tournies. I manage to make good returns in STT ($10) and that is how my bankroll is building but I want to learn what it takes in these MTT.
My problems? I just can never seem to find a way to chip-up and gain any momentum it seems. Plus I am not quite as sure as needed on handling the 1st couple of blind levels as the action is very wide open and I just feel hesitant to jump in with less than even average cards.
Does anyone have any books in particular that helped them the most? Does joining RPT help quite a bit in this area?
I hope that someone will post some useful information and if any clarity is needed then I would be happy to provide any additional information.

Don't go broke in unraised pots.
Play only hands you're willing to go broke with.
Don't bleed off half your stack and make a courageous fold.
Fold a lot.
Fold some more.
Win small pots and bide your time.
Look for spots to double up. Conserve your chips so when you do, it's meaningful.
Be aware of the situation and the dynamics. Know who you are entering a pot with and how they are likely to act post-flop. (e.g. Short stack raises PF half his chips. He's going all in on the flop so don't take a drawing hand at him.)
Pray for a Big Blind Special.
Pray your set holds up.
Pray you get lucky.
Pray you don't get unlucky.
Watch the lobby and try to stay ahead of average chip count.
Don't get short stacked or crippled. That's the most important thing. A lot of crazy stuff happens but if you have chips you have a chance.
