Need a new laptop

    Hey P5's I need a new laptop as my old one said GG. I really need it to be ultra portable (13 inch screen or under and v light) but also want it to be quick and have a gd screen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    i dont really have a specific choice for you bu i can tell you vista just sucks ass for playing poker.

    my 4gb laptop gave me the dreaded not responding BS yesterday listening to a cd and browsing one firefox window, not to mention problems with ftp freezing while playing and a whole host of other bs.

    Here are some thoughts to take into consideration.

    Ultras are awful small for playing poker unless you just play one table @ a time. You are also going to find it really hard to get one with the XP operating system, so say hello to Vista, there are plenty of people using it now, so my guess it's they've finally stablized for the most part.

    I've been buying laptops about 12 years now.Due to quality and services issues in the past, I will only buy Dell laptops. Laptops compress a desktop down to 1/4 of the size. Dell engineers theirs from the ground up, I've talked with plenty of tech repair guys who contract out to the Major players for their "on site" repair services, and Dell is their choice. They are not Dell techs, they are the ones who Dell sends out, if your stuck in a Vegas hotel and your keyboard goes to crap after you beat it from tilting after your AA is cracked by 22 aipf with 19 players left.

    Dell also doesn't outsource their phone support to India, which drove me nutz with the other brands. i have 3 of my older laptops still being used by family and friends. I tried both Toshiba and HP in the past 5 years, due to their lower cost. One took a crap in 16 months, and my HP lasted a little longer. both continually were a pain in the backside, I gave them away.

    Plus their 24 hour on site replacement policy (extra cost) is unbelievable. You can be in any major city, call them, they diagnose over the phone, and a tech shows up the next day and installs it....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I've used it in Dallas, Vegas and home over the last 10 or so years. Beats the crap out of sending it back to the mfg, then waiting a week or more to get your beloved machine back.
