  1. Ive been recently asked by some people in my hometown to run a charity poker tournament to raise money for a 3 year old girl with cancer and her family.I have agreed to do so, and also thought it might be a good idea to run one online as well.

I am going to run this tournament on UB within the next 3 weeks or so.

    My question is.

What do you feel is the best buy in for a charity tournament online? Obviously the idea here is to make as much possible for the cause, but i also want to know what is best for the players as well.

I have seen 10+10 quite often and am leaning towards this but want to see what everyone thought.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

  2. I would say 10 or 20 is a fair buyin and would attract a lot of players - But, I would do this on stars if you wanted to raise more money.....

  3. $10+10 seems about right mayb give ppl to option to donate to the cause directly if they want to as well. If you wanted to get crazy you could do a low ($10+10) mid ($50+50) n high ($100+100) buy in. gl moe86

  4. I think if you are going to do an online charity tournament on UB, you are best having a $10.00 straight up buy in with 30-50% of the proceeds going to the charity and then ask for donations then also.

I think you will get the most participation with that. Don't charge the juice or extra $1.00 or whatever, that throws people off sometimes.

That's how we do it around here. Maybe ask UB to match or have some give-aways like free gear or whatever also if you can pull that off to attract more people or give away seats to certain events.

Throw in a few added prizes.
  5. I would also maybe email a bunch of the training sites and see if they can donate a subscription and maybe have that as a prize?
  6. This is a very nice gesture and I'm sure a lot of people from p5s would be happy to play for such a good cause, but seriously why UB instead of stars?
  7. Well the obvious reason is my affilation with UB, and i know who to go to, to get the tournament up on the schedule.

I would have no objections of doing one on stars as well. I would love to raise as much money as possible for this cause. I might send an email into stars and see what they say.. unless anyone has done one of these on stars and has a better email for this sort of thing.

    thanks for responses
