1. For those who havent read it he wrote a great article in cardplayer about personality types of professional players that offers a ton of perspective in my opinion. Definately worth the 3 minutes to read.

2. ok
3. I love how negraneau was one of my original "poker heroes" when I started learning the game, and watching him demolish live with his passive tricky lag strategy was the nuts.

Now, I pray to draw him in a 10k hu/realize he ist he person that starts the 100-200nl game on stars. lolol. just funny how times change and how a hero has become another ATM machine donk.

4. sharks are full of fish, so ur rly eating other fish in a way
5. I think DN could be +EV in the online nosebleed cash games if he really dedicates himself to it, it he half asses it he will get crushed.
6. ATM stand for Automatic Transfer Machine, making the use of "machine" after ATM is redundant.

the more you know!
7. from the hands ive seen, hes actually been winning peoples money, though obv its not that big of a sample, doesnt seem like that big of a fishie, but then again, i havent watched any sessions live yet
8. Unless he figure out how to play multiple tables or decides to play for longer than a couple hours this will all be useless speculation becuae it would take 20 years to get a decent sample size.
9. anybody have anything to say about the content of the article? and ytiu im a lower limit player so i mean, unless you can put your ego aside feel free not to respond

10. I think the point of the article is to not play out of your skill level.
11. the point of the article jtown is that you need to play out of your skill level to be a top player someday

12. I guess.......

14. Well most of the succesfull players I know of treat poker like a business, they won't play games they are -EV in, they won't play games they can't afford to play in, they practice good game selection, good BR mgmt, work their ass off, become a beast, then crush the biggest games online. I like DN's article in theory though and hope every person that thinks they pwn poker decides to take as many shots as possible.
15. well he's just talking about the difference between players who continue to move up and players who get too comfortable and are too risk adverse to continue to move up.
i dunno, whatever, i thought it was interesting.

16. I think the point of the article is that playing out of your skill level is an excellent way to improve your game.

17. OK.......
18. when you get to DN's stakes you know everyone's game, and you pick the table with the most people you know you can beat. Not nec the best or worst players at that level, but the ones your style will beat.
19. Negreanu suggests in his article that you're either a Joey Knish or a Mike McDermott. He's implying that in order to be a high limit player you have to have high ambition but also be able to keep your ego in check.
20. Not a bad article. Here we go again w/ the Negreanu bashing. I still don't understand exactly why the "consensus" is that he's a donk. I don't think there is enough proof on either side of the arguement since none of us can peer into this guy's bank acct - however, we know what we see and we see him sponsered (by stars none the less) and playing the highest stakes NL cash games...in the world.

Check your egos @ the door...

PS: I just flopped a set of Jacks and got no action :(
21. Just out of curiosity, what in the name of fuck does that have to do with the article?

Anyway I think this is a great piece of insight into the mind of a great poker player, I think this poker community should really get behind this whole playing games with people that are better than us, and playing games that we can't afford. My only concern is that some of us won't recognise when it's time to move back down and build back up, which is neccesary to keep the people that belong at the higher stakes in the lifestyle they've become accustomed too.
22. or you challenge the best players in the world to play you heads up in the game of their choice
23. First off, that picture is hilarious. Nice find.

Second, that's a good article...a great read for any fans of his. Thanks for pointing it out.
24. jtown= next year's most improved player... Presto Award.

He has read more articles and has more poker knowledge stored in his brain then many of the rest of us...

Look out. 2008=jtown's year.

fyi... Look for showtime in a break out year, as well.
